April 28 is National Day of Mourning which is dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, or suffered injury or illness on the job or due to a work-related tragedy. May we take time to remember them all & work towards safer work environments! #dayofmourning This cenotaph In front of the Stone Church was erected to remember the 6 male parishioners from St Alphonsus that lost their lives in the Number 12 Colliery disaster that claimed the lives of 65 miners in New Waterford on July 25 , 1917. Warning offensive images : Please share : If anyone has any information on who ever did this random senseless vandalism to the Stone Church in Victoria Mines please contact the police ASAP or message us . Cameras are being checked and turned over to the police. Police stated the initials are allegedly to stand for Pier Boy Gang . This 103 year old former church is one of the National Trust of Canada Most Endangered buildings and never had had this happen before to our knowledge. #savethrstonechurch
