Stone City Coffee Roasters 19.01.2021

Today’s is going to be some work and whole lot of fun! Today Jay and I are doing deliveries and a big restock at Sage Creek Sobeys. Then we are going to take advantage of the skating trails at the Forks! This has been something we have loved to do with our kids. When Damian was little we would take the stroller and push it while we skated. When Zane was 6 months old we pulled a little sled and he loved it!... But today it’s just Jay and me which I am really excited about. Dates this last year have been scarce so it’s time to take advantage of a kid free day! Do you love doing this kind of thing with your kids in winter? Or is it to much work? Bundling up kids is no small task!! - - - - - - - - - #manitobamakers #shopsmall #shoplocal #steinbach #specialtycoffee #baristadaily #roasterdaily #manitoba #winnipeg #sobeyslookforlocal #coffeeroasters #stonecitycoffeeroasters #coffeeculture #steinbachbusiness #specialtycoffeeroaster #winnipeg #steinbach #livelocallovelocal #shoplocalmb #theforkswinnipeg #winnipegcoffee #microroastery #sheroasts

This guy is my rock. Jay has been my constant for over 20 years. Life is not perfect, we are far from perfect but I truly have a best friend to do life with. We may get annoyed at each other while we navigate learning to work together these days but I am thankful for the laughter we have been able to have through it. Like the other day when I was trying to organize the day and Jay interrupted me to say could you start anymore sentences without finishing any of them? I had a lot on my mind and my words weren’t keeping up with it anyone relate to that??

What do those descriptions mean on the front of our coffee bags? For example, our Nicaragua says chocolate, nutty & fruity. These descriptions are called tasting notes.... Coffee tasting notes are quick guides to the aromas and tastes you will find while brewing and sipping our coffee. They are a guide to the coffee flavors you will encounter. We have not added any flavouring into our coffee. It is pure 100% Arabica beans. When I grind coffee for our customers I genuinely feel sad that they can’t enjoy this amazing aroma that I get from grinding freshly roasted beans. I pick our green beans based off of tasting notes and then roast to bring out specific flavours. I LOVE chocolate and tend to always pick those plus roast to achieve that. So when I grind the coffee, the chocolate aroma is strong and so amazing. I am quite confident that no one regrets buying a coffee grinder! Just remember, a conical burr grinder is the best! Was anyone lucky enough to receive a burr grinder for Christmas?

Where can you find disposable Chemex filters? Apparently during a Pandemic those pretty little filters are in high demand! Sold out almost everywhere! But I have good news! I truly prefer a metal filter for taste. I love the paper filter for pictures but I can taste the difference from paper to metal. ... The oil that is trapped inside those delicious coffee beans is able to flow into your coffee through a metal filter. These oils impart a rich flavour to your coffee that cannot be found in while using a paper disposable filter. Also a metal filter will give you a stronger cup of coffee. Some people don’t like sediment in their coffee. If that’s you, then paper filter is best for you because a metal filter will allow sediment to flow through. I had an order of metal filters come in this last Friday morning and I sold out by Saturday evening. I will be ordering more in soon so if you want one you can comment below or send me a DM and I will start a list to reserve them. Our pre ground coffee you can buy in the stores, don’t use that for pour over! It works for auto drip and French Press but not pour over. It’s much to fine of a grind for pour over and your coffee will be bitter. For pour over coffee you need to invest in a grinder or order online and specify pour over grind. I would love to know if you can tell the difference between paper or metal? What is your preference? #manitobamakers #shopsmall #shoplocal #steinbach #specialtycoffee #baristadaily #roasterdaily #manitoba #winnipeg #sobeyslookforlocal #coffeeroasters #stonecitycoffeeroasters #coffeeculture #steinbachbusiness #specialtycoffeeroaster #winnipeg #steinbach #livelocallovelocal #chemexbrew #premiumcoffeebeans #chemexpourover

We finally get to experience Mexico again!!!! In our home of course Our single Origin Mexico is now available online!! ... This coffee is grown the mountains of Northern Chiapas.Ithas been roasted in small batches to bring out the optimum flavors in each bean. The tasting notes are brown sugar, toffee and raisin. The harvest process is washed and it is 100% Arabica Bean. This coffee is delicious on its own, or add some deliciouswhipped creamtoyour cup and sprinkle with cinnamon. And it pairs amazing with a warm cinnamon bun! These pictures were taken at Cozumel, Mexico. We took a day trip to this cute little island and rented a little convertible. Kids got extremely hot sitting in the sun, so we found a beautiful beach to stop and swim at. Then we continued driving around the whole island. We had a delicious seafood supper before we took the ferry back to mainland. Such a fun Memory from 2019!
