Over our career with custom homes, We’ve worked on some pretty creative projects. Nothing compares to the challenge that was brought fourth to us on this last project. Very few will appreciate the time and effort that went into this, but here we have a two tier deck that we’ve incorporated 3 stone pillars into, one of which is made up of 65% thin veneered stone (that we cut ourselves). To add to the complexity, there is a 22ft seamless eaves-through that runs inside the pil...lars, which catches all the water that lands on the deck. The water is directed to the eaves-through using pond liner between each joist installed on a gravity fed slope. This then catches all the water and feeds it to the downspout (still to be installed), allowing the area bellow the deck to stay completely dry. This dry space will become a screened-in Interlock lounge, with a TV & patio area! #stoneetcottawa #masonry

The #masonry crew spent part of this long weekend correcting some minor issues from another contractor. Needless to say, the client was very happy with the outcome and can now get his new patio door installed! #stoneetcottawa #repair

No job is too small! This client cut out their own foundation and installed a window, but then was left with the challenge of installing a steel lintel & re-installing the bricks. No problem for us! A quick job on a Friday evening, and now the opening is all sealed up and ready for tomorrow’s rain! #stoneetcottawa #masonry #nojobtoosmall

Saturday’s for the base. No boys here! Here at Stone etc we know it’s the base that makes the pad, so we’re making sure this one won’t shift. We dig out 14 inches. Then with a combination of Geotextile, triangular drive grid, and 10 of a 2minus granular we feel comfortable guaranteeing this pad for years to come!

It’s Women in Construction Week Without a doubt I am proud to be a woman whom works in a male dominated industry.
