Cruise ship pulling into Nanaimo

That was exciting and a bit scary! We sent our patrol vessel out to control boat traffic and protect the whales when suddenly the seal the Orca's were chasing r...ushed towards us to hide in or under the our patrol vessel! We cut our engines and stayed still. We think the whales were teaching their young to hunt. As soon as it was safe to do so we moved away. Just a reminder to all boats: a safety perimeter of 200 meters is required. When something like this happens - cut your engines then move away when it's safe to do so. #nanaimo #orcas #seal #patrolvessel
