We Blink On Average 15 Times a Minute. If someone was willing to pay you $2 every time you blinked your eyes, you might make as much money as Connor McDavid. If we assume you get a restful 8-hours of sleep at night, this will leave 16-hours to blink your eyes away. You would have blinked about 14,400 times. Crazy!... Now, @mcdavid97 makes $12,500,000 before endorsements, etc., which is about $34,246 per day. Divided by 14,400 blinks, it works out to be $2.38 every time he takes a blink. However, @kingjames has him beat; his blinks are worth a cool $7.12 before endorsements.

The average lifespan of an eyelash is about 5-months or 150 days. The lifecycle is made up of an anagen (growth) phase, which lasts about 1.5 months and a catagen (full maturity/length) phase that lasts about 3.5 months and a telogen phase where the eyelashes begin to fall out. About 1/3 of your eyelashes are always in the anagen growth phase.... Beauty products, cancer treatments, stress and eye conditions like blepharitis and meibomitis may all contribute to a premature loss or thinning. Please consult your optometrist if you have any questions about your thinning eyelashes to ensure that all underlying conditions are addressed. #eyelashes #eyelashextensions #eyelashextension #eyes #stonewireoptometry #eyehealth #loveyourlashes #optometry #optometrist

We all need to do our small part in reducing our environmental impact, not just millennials. This doesn't mean completely changing your life or saying no to contact lenses but instead looking at how we can either reduce or off-set some of the things we do. With approximately 30% of Canadians between the ages of 18-55 wear choosing to wear contact lenses, we feel that this is an area of focus that can see a significant change in over the next few years. With more and more Cana...dians switching to 1-day disposable contact lenses for convenience and hygiene, people sometimes have environmental concerns. However, according to a recent study published in Contact Lens Spectrum, it's shown that the average plastic waste of one multipurpose solution or hydrogen peroxide solution bottle is equivalent to more than 2.5 years of daily disposable lenses. So switching into 1-day disposables may actually be better for the environment as long as we take it one step further, and recycle those 1-day lenses and the packaging they come in. In partnership with Bausch & Lomb Canada, Stonewire is now an official contact lens recycle depot for TerraCycle. It's our goal to see 100% of the contact lenses we sell returned to us for recycling. To encourage this change, Stonewire will offer everyone $10-Off their next contact lens order of $99+ when you recycle your current contact lenses and lens packaging with us. 290 Million contact lenses and their packaging end up in Canadian landfills and waterways every year. But times have changed, and you can now recycle these products and bring them new life once again. You probably didn't even know that you could recycle your contact lenses, but you can! 20% of contact lens wearers dispose of their contact lenses down the sink or toilet every day. Worldwide, this amounts to about 2.5 billion contact lenses annually. . Nearsightedness or myopia is on the rise, and parents often ask us what the risk of their children becoming nearsighted is? . Although myopia is a multifactorial condition, one contributing factor may hinge on parental genetics. The risk of nearsightedness in children increases when one or both parents are also nearsighted or myopic. Even parents with perfect vision though have a chance of having a nearsighted child. . A white paper published by Professor Philip Morgan's o...ut of the University of Manchester England reviewed the statistical risks reported by Wu & Edwards in their research. The findings were: . Children who came from a household where both parents were nearsighted had a 46% chance of needing glasses or about 1 in 2. . Children who came from a household where one parent was nearsighted had a 31% risk or about 1 in 3. . Children who came from a household where neither parent was nearsighted still had a 22% risk or about 1 in 4. . #myopia #optometrist #optometrists #kidseyewear #nearsightedness #genetics #yeg #eyefacts @ Stonewire Optometry See more
