Osu From Sempai Julie, Banff Kyokushin Toronto Kyokushin Karate posted this and it resonated with me and I think that all of our students could benefit from this - and so I am reposting their post! ... Osu No Seishin; Never Give Up. When your body stops your mind pushes you on, when your mind stops your spirit pushes you on, that is basis for Kyokushin Karate. We learn this in Black belt grading where we have to push through 10-20-30-40-50 rounds of consecutive full contact fights. At some point during this our body is done it wants to give up the pain is intolerable and there is no gas left in the tank, yet we still find a way to keep going and survive and complete the test. Life is not about perfection, its about effort and resilience. To be successful, master anything, you have to keep working at it and never give up, never stop. A black belt is not always the beginner student that was the most talented, or the strongest or the most athletic, she is the student that didn't give up no matter how hard, how uncomfortable, how monotonous the training was at times. We are honing our mind and spirit with our training to make them strong and resilient as well as our bodies. In this way Karate training prepares us for life making us strong well rounded and ready. OSU!
