I remember this day well. It started out as a beautiful July day, and as we approached the start time of this sweet double birthday party, the clouds turned almost black, the rain started to pour sideways, and we started receiving emergency alerts about impending tornadoes in the area. It was our very first event back since Covid had hit, we were nervous, we didn't know how well guests would follow covid protocols, and the guests wanted to keep the overhead door open, desp...ite the monsoon-like rain. I remember thinking to myself... 'ok so if a tornado hits our area, where do I put all the guests while maintaining physical distance? Where is the safest spot in the venue to protect us from a tornado? How do I stop the pouring rain from coming inside the overhead door?' Needless to say, our first pandemic event was more than eventful. Luckily, just as guests began to arrive, the clouds parted, the sun came out and the event went off without a hitch (minus the very wet floors!!)
