Today, we gathered in cohorts to honour all the men and women who fought against tyranny and dictators. We honour those who joined the resistance and gave their lives so we could be free from these tyrannies, lest we forget. In Father Boutillier’s homily, he touched upon our duty to humanity, to follow in the footsteps of all those who had come before us and risked their lives to ensure our freedom and safety: Indifference seems to be a medicine that protects us from invol...vement and becomes a way of being more relaxed; this indifference, this non-involvement is a way of defending our selfishness. To challenge our reality requires dialogue and building bridges instead of walls; this is the time for dialogue, not for the defence of opposition.
