Dear parishioners and friends, I have heard the recent news about students testing positive at Mount Pearl Senior High, and the subsequent closure of our high schools. I am thinking especially about the students, teachers and staff who are in self-isolation and their anxiety as they await testing or the results of testing. We join them in thoughts of concern and prayerful solidarity during the days and weeks ahead. We keep looking for the light at the end of a tunnel but it... is obviously not a straightforward path. As any Harbour Master or tug boat captain knows, we may have to tack from side to side to reach safe harbour. Yesterday evening, our friend in Christ, Anglican Bishop Sam Rose, posted the following message on Facebook. I share it with you now and thank Bishop Sam for his insight and prayer. He blogs: As a parent of teenagers who are worried about today's news of an outbreak in one of our schools, I offer this prayer for all students, teachers, and parents this evening: We Bring Your Love Loving God, Help us to focus on what we have not on what is removed or changed. Strengthen us when we feel discouraged or overwhelmed. Embrace us so that we know your loving presence within us and among us.
