On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, Advocis will be holding a Legislature Day at Queen’s Park in Toronto. After our strong involvement in the recent election campaign, which resulted in the election of a new government in Ontario, we now need to strengthen existing relationships and build new relationships with the many newly-elected Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), Cabinet Ministers, and their staff to make the case that financial advisors need to be recognized as profes...sionals. Legislature Days are an integral part of our lobbying and advocacy efforts to politicians and key government officials on important issues that financial advisors and their clients face. The Legislature Day will incorporate a series of meetings that Advocis members set with their MPPs in advance, an opportunity to sit in the legislature during Question Period, and an MPP reception in the Legislature Dining Room. A detailed agenda will be provided to you in the coming weeks. We will be providing all members with key messages and a leave-behind document for meetings with their MPP. Additionally, we will be holding a briefing session and breakfast on the morning of the Legislature Day to go over the day’s events and cover all of the material.
