Dr. Henry reminds us ... Thanks to the hard work of British Columbians, our daily case counts are going down. Our efforts are working and we are bending our curve. But we must keep COVID-19 variants of concern from rapidly spreading in our province as we ramp up our Immunization plan. We all want a smooth path to the finish. We're not there yet. But we are getting closer every day.

Halloween is almost here! Is this year’s trick-or-treating going to be different? . Can you and your family still do this? !!! Here’s how:... Respect homes by staying away if the lights are out. Stick to your local neighbourhood. Avoid trick-or-treating in busy areas or indoors (like malls) since there may not be enough space to distance. Trick-or-treat in a small social group stick to six! Leave lots of space between you and other groups if there is a group at the door, wait for them to get their treats and leave before you take your turn. Wash your hands before you go out, when you get home and before eating treats. You can also carry some hand sanitizer with you. Witch-ing you a safe and happy Halloweeeeeeen! With fall upon us, many families are looking to home canning (or home bottling) to keep food for later use. Although the food we eat in Canada is among the safest in the world, there are food safety risks associated with home canning. When home canning, remember to: Label and date all home canned foods before you store them. Store them in a cool, dry place.... Once the container has been opened, refrigerate leftovers. Gov’t of BC reminds us all that COVID-19 will be with us for some time to come, but when we all do our part we can still stay connected safely. Remember the golden rules: Wash your hands, always stay home if you’re ill, and pick six people your household will socialize with this fall and stick with them.

Kids can now do a mouth-rinse and gargle test for COVID-19. It's a more comfortable way to get tested, and available to children with COVID-19-symptoms from kindergarten to grade 12. Before the test, your child should: Practice the swish, gargle and spit technique with salty water at home Have a mask to wear to the collection centre... Avoid eating, drinking, chewing gum, or brushing their teeth at least one hour before the test For more information on COVID-19 testing for youth and children, visit the BC Centre for Disease Control's testing guidelines http://www.bccdc.ca/.../covid-19/testing/children-youth

We’ve all got that one friend who doesn’t stay at home when they’re sick. Don’t be that friend. If you’re feeling ill, do not go to social gatherings, work, school or public places. Stay home and don't have visitors to your residence! http://ow.ly/kZRN50B634I
