As we remain physically distant with the holidays approaching, the sense of isolation becomes even more of a challenge. Find out how Rotary members are discovering ways to connect, cope, and care for each other and their community. https://on.rotary.org/2JeTu8Z

We will remember them. Remembrance Day 2020 looks a little different this year. Please join us in watching the Comox Legion Branch 160 ceremony here https://fb.me/e/1G226XndS or the Courtenay Legion ceremony here https://fb.me/e/2XxQBSDPX... We will remember them.

Thank you to the Salvation Army Sonshine Lunch Club for the BIG thank you card from some of our gift card recipients this summer/fall. We are glad to know these tokens made a small difference to you during this challenging year.

On Saturday, Rotarians from Strathcona Sunrise Rotary, and District 5020 gathered online for an #Countdowntohistory Polio Event and raised $10,500 USD through ticket sales and donations towards the eradication of polio. Because of the continued work of #rotary we see an end to the fight polio through the thousands of people who are not facing the effects of polio today. Here are some interesting facts from the afternoon's event: ~ During a NID (National Immunization Day) i...n one area of India earlier this year, over 300,000 immunizations took place in the city centres and then by sending volunteers (upwards of 800 teams) house to house, all in the span of 5 days! ~ It costs just $0.60 to vaccinate a child against polio ~ A $30 donation is matched 2:1 by the Gates Foundation ($30+$60)= $90 is able to vaccinate 150 children! ~ The polio infrastructure has also been assisting in the COVID-19 response through its use of laboratories for testing, call centres taking calls for polio and COVID-19, community mobilizers educating on polio and COVID-19 prevention, and in the distribution of PPE. Check out the pictures/info below and watch for more #EndPolioNow posts as we move closer to #WorldPolioDay on October 24. https://www.endpolio.org/donate
