Our 2020 Annual Report is up on our website for those of you interested to see how, despite COVID-19, we still had a large flow of park go-er's! Scroll down on the main page and give it a read, https://www.strathconapark.org/ Also a HUGE shoutout to all of our volunteers, we could not have done it without you as it is volunteers who keep the centre open and providing information to those coming to the park. We hope to see you next year, and if you are interested in volunteering with us next year you can also sign up on our website.

A friendly reminder that TONIGHT AT 7pm (until 8PM) you can tune into a FREE WEBINAR from SWI's summer student, Erin Sketchley who will be presenting on Balancing Increasing Recreation and Conservation in Strathcona Park, BC. To register please click the following link: https://register.gotowebinar.com/regist/2366572744553603340 -------------------------------... She was employed by SWI to do collect park data and assess park planning options and conditions through observations collected on her hikes. Covid-19 has provided ideal conditions for a stress test of park use and human footprint capacity which should be indicative of future trends in park impacts. See more

If you have been up to Paradise Meadows this past week you will notice BC Parks has added a few new signs. When enjoying a hike in Forbidden Plateau it is important to keep your dog on a leash at all times. These signs are an important reminder that if we do not follow the rule then all dogs will be banned. We are a large community that has to adapt and find a way that everyone can enjoy being on the trails. Another reminder is to please pack out all dog poop. Paradise Mead...ows & Forbidden Plateau are backcountry areas and garbages are NOT provided. When we enter the backcountry we have to adhere and practice Leave No Trace, and this includes dog poop. ----------------- If you are travelling elsewhere in BC you can find parks that are off-leash friendly here: http://bcparks.ca/visiting/parks-and-pets/ . You can also find additional information to any questions you may have before entering Strathcona Park in the above link. Stay safe and enjoy the trails.
