Contrary to typical white winemaking where the juice is immediately extracted from the skins prior to fermentation, the 2019 Harvest Team chose to ferment the grapes with the skins. This 'skin contact' lasted for 30 days and has resulted in a white wine with perceptible tannin, slight oxidation and a slightly orange or amber hue. Furthermore, the wine was n...ot filtered and has been kept with the lees (you know how much we love 'lees' at Stratus) adding haze and further complexity. Is it an orange wine? Yes it is, though we refer to it as a skin fermented white. This wine is an adventure! It's a unique, extremely low-intervention wine from the Stratus vineyard. It's a 'trial'.
