***ACE UPDATE*** Hello everyone! Dr Bebchuk fixed me up pretty well!! I had my surgery on the 29th and arrived back to my fosters house on the 30th. Since there I’ve been in my wire kennel 90% of the time with this hard round plastic thing around my neck...I think it’s called a cone but I call it annoying! I am let outside to relieve myself with just my foster mom and not my pack plus I’m taking all these little orange and white things that I thought was food...ummmm no it’s... not, they are called pills to help me heal. I am being fed 4 X’s a day, a lot more then where I used to be and it’s good stuff I have to stay in my kennel the majority of the time for 4 weeks but I get my stitches out in 10-14 days and a picture of my knee to see if it’s healing okay I cannot thank you all enough that donated towards my surgery, I won’t be in anymore pain and hopefully will be able to walk normally again Love Ace Our little Ace is upbeat, as usual, and behaving very well with his other foster brother, Bear whom is also recovering from major surgery from being hit by a car, and my 2 dogs and cats. I promise to keep you all posted on Ace’s recovery - Sherrill

Hello everyone, Tickles has been snooping around and he said to his foster mom: Can we help more doggies like me?... The reality is we need more fosters. As temperatures as dropping across the province, this is when we encounter more dogs and kitties requiring help and needing to be rehomed. You supply love, guidance, affection and time. We will supply you with everything else. Please consider opening up your home for a short period or even a month or two to help out those in need. Please fill out our form today or send us a message. https://docs.google.com//1wNBKL6L7LxO-Li73NECBZ8/viewform

Hello everyone! We are beyond speechless for the amount of support received for our sweet Ace! We needed your help and support and you came in strong. Together we are always stronger.... Around 5pm Ace underwent surgery. The broken fragment revealed the injury was a bit older than we would have liked, nonetheless pinning of the fragment was still able to be done with pins and surgical string. We are so thankful to Dr Bebchuk from Great Plains for fitting us in so fast as this really couldn’t have waited, and to Kenaston vet as well for the late fit in and their wonderful staff. We are also thankful to our volunteer Sherrill who has opened her heart, home and time to chauffeur, and foster our sweet boy. The next 4 weeks include the most critical care. Short leash walks to go pee and poop outside (he’s already got that nailed down!), lots of kennel rest, xrays in 3-4 weeks to make sure all is healing, staples and sutures out in 10-14 days, and of course the best medicine, love. Thankful, blessed, supported, and cared for is how to best describe how the entire team feels at Strays That Cant Pay. This is what we strive to provide the animals in our care with and all our partners, supporters and followers have shown this. We were grateful the moment we knew Ace was coming into rescue and appreciative of the opportunity provided by the Brandon Humane Society. Rescues working together are also stronger. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you. And from Ace thank you for giving him the best chance, the greatest start, the light in him is bright and his journey has just begun!

Dear friends, followers, supporters, and donors; We are forever grateful for all of the support you have shown us in one of the most challenging years we have faced for many reasons. Let’s finish 2020 with a bang and open 2021 with the best start we can.... Over Christmas we were approached by the Brandon Humane Society to bring in a puppy that was located in a cardboard box at the dump in a northern community. If we have room we will always say yes. Please know that we often do not know unless it is blatantly obvious just how bad or how good the animals we bring may be. It is without doubt or hesitation we have had heavy medical cases this past year. However, we did not waiver from accomplishing spay/neuter and wellness projects and programs, which promote healthy pet populations along with responsible pet ownership. The team did not shy away from fundraising activities although we knew this year it was going to be hard. We knew a day before puppy, whom we named Ace, came in we were alerted that something was wrong with his back leg(s). This still does not stop us from getting this boy in, knowing we can get him vetted as soon as possible (Monday). Xrays reveal is has a tibial fracture, this needs surgery immediately as it involves the growth plates. This requires an orthopaedic surgeon. How fortunate are we to have a working relationship with so many clinics to be able to make this happen... TOMORROW! With this being said, our emergency funds along with intake funds will be drained in order to get Ace the surgery he needs tomorrow by Dr. Bebchuk from Great Plains at Kenaston Vet in Winnipeg. With hope, faith and the determination to keep going, the team will rally again to create fundraisers to alleviate financial constraints. We are grateful to the Brandon Humane Society for asking for our assistance. At this time our quote is around three thousand. We humbly ask if you are in a position to donate towards Aces care or can share this post please do so. We are a registered charity and we can issue tax receipts for donations of $20 or more. You can donate directly to us by etransfer to [email protected]. Please make sure to send us an email with your mailing address if you require a tax receipt. You can also donate via canadahelps.org. They issue tax receipts on our behalf. At this time our current fundraiser we have the wonderful Smencils!!! Please visit our Facebook page and look for the pinned post on the top. Ace has his whole life ahead of him and we are going to do what is needed to give him the greatest start we can. When asked when, how, who or what did this, we do not know. What we do know is Ace is only a puppy, full of life, love and determination. We wish for nothing more than to have a successful surgery tomorrow in hopes to start off 2021 with Ace in care recovering as well as he can so we can help him find his new home, new life, new journey as many more await us.
