In the Prairie Crocus NEW EXHIBITION! Introducing Cheyenne Rain LeGrande’s (@cheyennerainlegrande) new exhibition ‘Sâkihitowin ‘... This installation is a celebration of my language: nêhiyawêwin, of love and spring. Sâkihitowin translates to "Love". Pink holds a lot of meaning for me. It is my Kokums favorite colour and reminds me of the sunsets in Wabasca. Pink to me is the color of love. I invite the audience to become a part of the work with the use of the mirror. Please feel free to take a cute selfie in the mirror, and love yourself, because you are beautiful :) The the floral design is inspired by Nehiyaw beading. I hope this work brings light, love and joyful moments to folks who see it. Come check out the exhibition until June 9th

It is with a bittersweet heart that we bid farewell to our Assistant Director Conrad Marion. Since Conrad joined Stride in the Fall of 2018, we witnessed his generosity, empathy, and strength in his role that provided valuable support towards our artists, youth workshops, publications and other various parts of our programming and operations. With an inquisitive dedication to multidisciplinary dialogues, Conrad coordinated a series of programs called Art Rock that brought the... music and visual art community together. Never hesitating to tackle difficult, tenuous and often invisible labour, Conrad brought full-hearted commitment and unselfishness to the small team of two at Stride. We are grateful for the opportunity to have worked with Conrad who brought thoughtfulness and positive energy to the organization. Please join us in extending our warm gratitudes to Conrad and wishing him well in his next steps.

JASON DE HAAN - WHERE THE OCEAN MEETS THIS GUY 2007 . The memories keep flooding in! Another gem from our archive was this intensive project by local artist Jason De Haan .... In the great and noble tradition of seafaring, JASON DE HAAN will spend the Month of September constructing a 20-foot one-man sailboat in Stride Gallery’s Project Room. Inspired by the likes of Buster Keaton, Bas Jan Ader, and Captain Morgan, his project, Where the Ocean Meets This Guy, proposes a handyman’s version of the ultimate vehicle for the landlocked romantic escapist. @ Stride Gallery See more

ARLENE STAMP - SOMEWHERE IN-BETWEEN 1993 . .... I have been working with recursive binary patterns; that is, patterns which manifest themselves simultaneously at every scale. They seem to embody a different kind of planar space for me, a space which both surrounds and embeds the eye... this show brings the two ends together in an attempt to narrow the gap between my two different journeys towards that always elusive, missing middle. @ Stride Gallery
