Day 3 #drjodychallenge Here’s some authenticity ... day old mascara, Monday’s hair, yesterday’s sweatshirt but I’m still drinking my water and smiling Day 3 @drjodycarrington asked us for a selfie, so introducing you to my unfiltered, home office self!... Working from home does have some benefits like my 10 second commute, four legged co-workers who love to snuggle and easy access to snacks but the lack of motivation for putting myself together is a real thing. On the weekends I find myself excited to ‘get ready’ to go for groceries or skiing it’s a little lame lol! Maybe next week after web launch is complete and Christmas is all organized I’ll challenge myself to get up and get ready like I normally would have. Perhaps it will have a different affect on my day? But I am grateful for the privilege to have work, my creative dream of Strikhedonia and good people around me. (Gratitude every day!!!) I am jumping on the @drjodycarrington bandwagon!!! After days of feeling ‘off’ and a bit tired of all the things not going right I have decided I want to end the year on a high. So today marks day one and it’s all about gratitude. To honour this daily practice of gratitude, I have decided to get myself back to daily journaling. I used to journal a lot but then I started going through droughts and what I have realized is there is a strong pattern... in my journaling/ not journaling! When things get to hard, negative or just generally yucky I tend not to journal. I think it’s mostly because I don’t want to dwell in that space...maybe Well turns out there has been very little journaling in the past year or so which has made me decide that journaling from a place of gratitude each day would probably be a perfect habit to work on. Additionally, in our house we will be chatting each day about something we are grateful for. It’s just my husband and I so nothing big and fancy but with so much going on and all the stresses impacting us right now it is easy to get wrapped up in talking about the bad, chaotic, sad or the next problem that needs to be solved. So now we will practice taking about the things we are grateful for each day too! I am a firm believer in finding good in each day and choosing happiness so now it is time to write it down, look for the joy and remind myself of all that there is to be grateful for. Strikhedonia is one of those things... my little creative outlet, my bridge to meeting some wonderful people and my way of sharing my good intentions with every person who wears my designs. I am not doing this as part of a team or a larger group but I do invite my friends, followers, and family to join me in this challenge to end our crazy year. P.S. UPDATE So here’s the scoop, ... it’s been a week. A week of mini meltdowns, not enough hours in the day and just general suckiness. I work full time in addition to working away at this little creative dream so my time (like everyone’s) is precious and I carefully selected just three markets for this Christmas season. This week 2 of those markets were cancelled, leaving me just 1 day to sell face to face for the whole Christmas season. Meeting the people embracing my c...reations is one of my favourite things so that’s unfortunate. Then, I had just one step left to get my website up and going for Black Friday by afternoon in but unfortunately the time I had blocked for it had to be redirected last minute. So here we are...trying to make the best of things...with an update on the good things that are happening! This weekend on Sunday I will be in Claresholm @theatticbylaurenbilley buy your tickets and plan to attend this super safe shopping environment filled with small businesses! I have to stop in Lethbridge as well to do some deliveries so any orders before tomorrow at 11 can be brought to Lethbridge, Calgary or Claresholm!!! Also, I’m still hoping that a super late night tonight will result in finally getting the website sorted and the last of the product prepped for the weekend. I’m hoping for a bit of help getting the word out once the website is live and even as you check out my stories. Share, shop, tell me what you like! Let me tell you about someone I have been lucky enough to get to know in Canmore; her name is Brenda and she has the most healing hands and kind soul I have encountered in a massage therapist. For the past year and a half I have been seeing her for help with my injuries from our accident and in the process of healing my body she also soothes my mind. ... I leave her massage table feeling so calm, with looser muscles and tips to help my body continue to heal. She recently opened her own studio called Heartwood Massage and Wellness (it is LOVELY) and has been so generous in letting me show off some of my designs on the mountain shelf in her serene space. I seriously cannot say enough wonderful things about this beautiful human! Hands down the best massage therapist I have been to and I am so grateful that she is part of my team of practitioners.
