This box was found at the entrance to the park. While we can appreciate the sentiment, we are urging everyone to stop taking plant materials from the Elevated Park. There are many things at the park that would look beautiful at home, especially at Christmas, but their real purpose is to look beautiful at the park. Whether it's on a tree, planted in the ground or just lying on the ground, LEAVE IT THERE, please.
We've installed three wooden balance beams, a safe play structure for kids and their playful parents or grandparents. They join the 20 foot long "talking tubes" and the Railway City Rotary musical instruments. Try them out on your next visit.
Once again Frank Pelsoczi gives us some great photos of the Elevated Park, this time during Sunday's snow storm. Thanks Frank.
The Elevated Park at night, covered in a blanket of snow. Thanks Moe McVey.
Travel film producer Lorraine Simpson was in St. Thomas today with her crew filming segments for an upcoming travel series. The Elevated Park was one of her stops of course. Serge Lavoie, project leader, gave her a quick overview. #stthomasproud.
These are just a couple of the 36 LED bollard lights currently being installed on the Elevated Park and Eastern trail. When powered up, they will make the trail safer and even more attractive.
Early childhood education came to the Elevated today when children and their parents made the rounds of a story walk installed at points along the Stumpery Garden. There was a bonus. The kids got to watch Entegrus crews at work installing a hydro pole. Very big trucks were involved.
As the electrical wiring gets installed, Blake Chesterfield of Second Nature Land Design covers it with four inches of top soil. The sod will be installed next week.
Our friends and supporters Entegrus are hard at work installing a pole to bring electricity to the park. Not long now before we have path lighting. Lots going on in October.
Autumn colours are now officially an attraction at the St Thomas Elevated Park.
Hats off and a thousand thanks to Christine Dewancker for reinstalling her 11 piece art work The Faraway Nearby, assisted by her father John. It was just over a year ago that Christine installed the illuminated work after its residency at Ontario Place. A string of vandalism forced us to remove it. A new, more robust design will make it harder to vandalize. Path lighting and security cameras will be another deterent. Thanks for hanging in there Christine.
Early morning at the Elevated Park is a beautiful thing.

Our friend and supporter Laurie Kenny shared some lovely, serene shots of the western approach to the Elevated Park, what we are developing into The Arboretum Line. The total walk from bridge to Lyle Road is 3.5km.
We particularly like this almost surreal photo of the Elevated Park boardwalk, facing east. Thanks to Walter E Pfefferle for sharing this great shot.
Coming soon to the St. Thomas Elevated Park. This bright piece of art, titled May Woods with Trilliums, by Lloyd Johnston, is in the permanent collection of the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre and will soon be on view at the Elevated Park as part of the Art, Trees and Trails project. Funded by the estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell and the Elgin St. Thomas Community Foundation, some 10 pieces of art will be on display throughout our park and trail. Expect to see this one on the eastern approach in late October.
Look who visited the Elevated Park yesterday? This hawk wasn't too concerned with having its picture taken by Susan Ketchum Silcox. It appeared to be much more intent on spying its next meal in the valley below.
Coming soon to the Elevated Park. Four of these bright red, tall planters will be installed in the area of the Kids Play Zone and Rotary Music Garden. Each will be topped with shaped, miniature evergreen. We like the pop of colour and the whimsy these will bring to that part of the park. Three of the four have already been sponsored by donors. If you are interested in sponsoring the fourth one, contact us by direct message.
