A $2,000 grant from the Frances Tarry COVID-19 Relief Fund within Elgin - St. Thomas Community Foundation has been a big help to the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank.... Volunteers Paul Dalton and Shirley Ashton help deal with the volume while general manager Karen McDade demonstrates proper protection. The Community Foundation grant will help the Food Bank expand its freezer capacity. The Kohler Family Fund within ESCF also recently donated $1,000 to this much-needed charity. Thank you so much to members of the St Thomas Police Department for the generous donation of much needed formula, wipes and diapers. We appreciate your generos...ity especially during these trying times. Formula and baby supplies are extremely costly to our new Moms here at the food bank so this takes a weight off their shoulders.

Thank you Enbridge Gas and St. Thomas Fire Department for supplying our clients with much-needed smoke alarms! We want all of our community members to stay safe and this is a step in the right direction!! St Thomas Fire Department A portion of the smoke alarms donated by Enbridge Gas are earmarked to be handed out by the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank - The Caring Cupboard throughout October!... The St. Thomas Fire Smoke alarm program’s goal is to ensure all St. Thomas residents have working smoke alarms. This program assists residents that may not be able to afford alarms, or need assistance in testing and maintaining their existing alarms. Anyone in St. Thomas can call 519-631-0210 and STFD will assist you with making sure your smoke alarms are working, offer advice on how to test, install or maintain your alarms.

The Talbotville United C...hurch Board is putting plans in place for the eventual safe return to indoor services. Outreach donations will continue to be collected on the 1st Sunday of the month for the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank - The Caring Cupboard, and on the 3rd Sunday of the month for another local organization, which in September is the Inn Out Of The Cold St.Thomas-Elgin. THANK YOU Belmont!!! What an amazing community! In less than 2 weeks, and through some local advertising our community donated over 2160 lbs of food which will ...aid our area food banks. Organized by our Belmont lions club with the assistance of a few of our Leo’s club youth group we managed to collect everything by 11 am and in the food banks by noon Thanks to some corporate sponsors. I just had to give another heartfelt shout out to our friends at St. Thomas Domino's Pizza for their amazing Free Pizza Day Event held on Sept.26th to support our food bank. The $3,000.00 cheque was received today ($1,610.00 collected from our generous pizza patrons and a top-up from Domino's to round up to $3,000.00!!), and on top of that, over 1,500 food items were also donated. Domino's handed out 1,000 free pizzas for a donation to our food bank. Thanks again St. Thomas and Team Drake at Domino's!!!!!!!
