Life! It can be so joyous, AND it can be so painful. And occasionally, both at the same time. June 16th, 2020 will be one of my worst days. My father, Bill Bish... passed early that morning. Just 4 days earlier I was able to spend 3 days with him in his extended care facility in Alberta. He was slipping away and not very conscious, but there were moments of lucidity that I now cherish. I had to return to Penticton, knowing that may be the last time we would be together. On the afternoon of that same day, we had to have our beautiful, majestic dog Dexter euthanized as an aggressive cancerous tumour was attacking his leg at an alarming rate. The depths of sadness on that day I have never plumbed. Then on June 17th, at 3:45 am, James Stuart Ogle, my grandson was born in Calgary. The emotional roller-coaster continues every day with waves of sadness and of joy, each peak and valley getting gradually, almost imperceptibly less extreme. It hasnt killed me, so I guess Im getting stronger? I can feel like an emotional basket case at a moments notice, and the next moment I feel so fortunate compared to the desperate lives being experienced by so many others during a global pandemic/economic crisis/refugee crisis/oppressive regimes/american presidential and republican party total failure/etc. (pick your favourite). The saying "May you live in interesting times" was meant to be a positive blessing, but me thinks our times are far too interesting! Rest in Peace Dad... and Dexter. Have you seen the renovations at Therapy Vineyards?! Wow. We will be dreaming of sipping wine on that patio to get us through the upcoming winter months. Make sure to pop into their beautiful new tasting room to sample some of their delicious wines before the season is over!

We love stepping up and stepping out to try new things, which is exactly what we did when approached by Therapy Vineyards to capture this shot of their beautiful property! Would you believe this image was captured using a drone!

Last month Stuart Bish Photography hosted an amazing creative workshop for photographers from all over the province. Over the course of 3 days 11 photographers worked with 3 models and created some amazing images. Coming together like this with our peers is such an amazing opportunity to learn, teach and explore. We would especially like to thank Don MacGregor of MacGregor Studios and Tomo Tanaka, 2 of North Americas premier educators and award-winning photographers for creating, organizing and including us in this wonderful workshop!

Its Miss Penticton time again! We are always so happy to be included in the Miss Penticton Program. Getting to know the candidates and photograph them is something we look forward to every year. This year we have 6 new young ladies vying for the title of Queen Val Vedette the 72nd. Each one brings their own unique talents to the program which teaches leadership, confidence and life skills to help these ladies succeed not only in the pageant but in their lives. We are absolutely thrilled to have been a part of the Penticton Regional Hospitals new tower expansion project. Teaming up with the board of directors and the Penticton Museum we printed and framed 100+ historical archived images of Penticton that are now on display in the halls of the David E. Kampe Tower.

Our beautiful "Portrait of Penticton" Aerial that graces our home page was taken last August 18th (2017) on a rare clear day in the midst of a bad forest fire season. It is an extremely high resolution capture which is 325 megapixels. I dont think well get a chance to take one this year! We just hung an impressive 4 foot by 10 foot canvas gallery wrap in the entrance of McElhanney Consulting Services at 290 Nanaimo Avenue W. in Penticton. Even at that size it is tack sharp!

2018 Order of BC recipient George Melville. Were so proud of George as he was recognized recently for the many contributions in BC and his success in his many businesses which bring employment and prosperity to many British Columbians. The Order of BC website says of him: "George Melville is chairman and owner of Melville Global Investments Inc., a diversified investment portfolio that includes ownership in Mr. Lube, Naramata Benchland Properties and the SKOOKUM Festival at... Stanley Park. He has donated many millions of dollars to charities and provincial organizations, and contributes his leadership skills to many institutions. He also co-founded and previously owned the T&M Group, which included Boston Pizza International Inc., and is now the largest owner of trust units in the Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund. Melville has been honoured with the Canadian Franchise Associations Lifetime Achievement Award, recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year, and has been inducted into the Business Laureates of B.C. Hall of Fame as well as the B.C. Restaurants Hall of Fame. Melville is currently serving his second term as chancellor of Kwantlen Polytechnic University." I had the honour of creating his portrait in George and Sylvias beautiful Peachland home. Then we were treated to an enjoyable evening meal with an exceptional Mission Hill Chardonnay from grapes grown on their property. Of course, it helps that my wife Del Nelson is Sylvias cousin! George and Sylvia grew up in Penticton and are likely most famous locally for starting Boston Pizza here. See more

Happy Peach Fest Everyone!! While your out and about enjoying all the festivities and fun make sure you swing by the Cleland Theatre TONIGHT at 7pm to watch the crowning of Miss Penticton 2018! Tickets are only $20.00 at the door and goes toward keeping this amazing program, that teaches leadership, confidence and life skills, going year after year. Each year we are honored to be the official photographer for the Miss Penticton pageant which means we get to spend time and get to know each of the candidates that enter. This year there are 6 amazing, talented and poised young ladies competing for the title and we want to wish each one of them the very best of luck!

Karen Brownlee will be running for City of Penticton Councillor in this falls municipal election. We were honoured to do a very early morning session with her yesterday for her upcoming campaign. We wanted the early morning backlighting because its all about the light! And Karen is an early riser. Early risers tend to get lots done, and were sure Karen is going to get lots done for the City of Penticton. Shes a hard worker and we think she looks fabulous, dont you? Watch for her name on the ballot!

We were honored to be asked back by The Bowmont Motel to do some more photography for them during the Peach City Beach Cruise! They have recently been doing some renovations and redecorating and the place is looking better then ever! We had a client bring us these 3 Chinese rice paper calligraphy art pieces from Beijing to mount. What we did was carefully mount them on upholstery silk, gave the art work and the silk a thin black mulberry paper border and created scroll ends from dowel. The end result are these stunning, authentic looking Chinese scrolls! We love a good challenge and this project was definitely not easy but working with all forms of art and pushing our creative boundaries is one of our passions!
