Hey, we’re Studiothink! You might not know much about us, being out here in Surrey and all, but we’ve been around since 1997, and are one of the largest and most established branding agencies in BC (as well as one of the coolest). We are looking for a kickass Marketing Strategist with a strong knowledge of marketing, communications and business. Check it out, and please share if you can! https://www.studiothink.com/careers/

Happy Halloween from all of us at Studiothink Wishing everyone a safe and spooky weekend!

Think back to when you first had that amazing idea to start your business. When the initial spark entered your brain to make it happen. Remember the adrenaline, how ready you were to take on the world. Now think about your business today. Do you still have the same excitement, energy, and drive that pushed you in those early days? Or do you just feel a littlemeh? Spoiler alert, entrepreneurs are human, and you’re entitled to a little inspiration loss along the waythe ke...y is getting it back. Sit down. Stoke the fires. Fall in love with your business again by defining your WHY. Whether your company started last year or 20 years ago, your WHY will be the defining factor to keep that momentum going for years to come. But be warned, this is powerful stuff. Just take it from our clients who have shed some tears after finally having their why defined for them. Don’t worry, we won't name names. You know who you are See more

Building genuine relationships doesn’t happen by just putting a core value poster on your wall (although, we totally kinda did that). It happens when you are real with people, real with your motives, real with caring. We decided long ago that those non-genuine type of people aren’t for us. And you know what, that attitude makes everyone in our office, well, just happier people (according to those of us not currently under tight deadlines).

Studiothink 19.10.2020

Meetings at our office rarely happen without the roar of a Harley riding by. That’s because we’re located next to a Harley shop, our amazing neighbours @dencocycle, and you know what, we’re more than okay with that. The mix of businesses in Cloverdale are diverse. Sure we have popular restaurants and shops, but what often gets overlooked are the businesses who operate quietly (or not so quietly in this case), businesses who have been fixtures of our community for years and th...e cornerstone of who we are. We’ve got a library, accountants, lawnmower repair, barbers, pizza joints, corner stores, sausage makers, a bowling alley, heck, we even have a legion. So here’s to the quiet businesses, the ones who might not be on social media, the ones who share our cute streets and make our economy strong, you can rev your engines past our office anytime. #wearecloverdale

Studiothink 09.10.2020

We are proud to call Cloverdale the home for Studiothink and the 15 people who work here, and when we heard that @discovercloverdale wanted to promote small businesses in Cloverdale we couldn’t help but get excited. The new hashtag they announced a few weeks back is awesome, #wearecloverdale is how we feel too! So, in partnership with Discover Cloverdale we are going to shout out local businesses, people and activities in our neighbourhood over the upcoming weeks. Join us in our love for our community and our love for hard working local businesses by using the hashtag. Together, we can bring positivity, connection, and growth to our small neck of the woods. It’s the small things that make a difference.

Dang Cloverdale, you’re looking extra cozy this morning Hot drinks in the office for clients coming in todayand we’ve got Baileys on hand, just saying Happy Friday!

Great brands need great design, and well, that’s why we have Emelie. A true creative at heart, she is one of those rare types who really gets why design is important to brand, and how it intersects with business goals. She’s authentic, outspoken and loyal. She stays true to herself and is someone who truly cares about her team and the companies that she works with. We can’t lie, we make her wear a lot of hats around here, from taking photos, to meeting clients, to strategizing websites and design. And you know what? She is also a pretty great wine buddy, especially if you also want to get tattoos. Booze and tattoos? Heck ya. See, that’s why we love her.

Studiothink 13.09.2020

It’s National Coffee Day and usually we’d shout out a local Cloverdale biz, but today's post is inspired by our Creative Director's recent trip to Tofino and her kinda rebel mug she loved from a local coffee hot spot called @tofitian. It’s sometimes easy to forget what a beautiful province and country that we live in. We are able to enjoy and accomplish so much if we focus on the great things, the small things, the beauty that is ever present. You don’t have to be in Tofino ...to chill and have great vibes. Today, take a few minutes for yourself and sip a great coffee. Focus on positive vibes. Appreciate what is around you. Soak up the sun. Don’t read or watch any news. Do something kind. Laugh. Hang loose, friends.

We all have problems, we hear ya! But its never a bad thing to remind ourselves that with every set back we experience, we have the opportunity to grow! And while nobody can predict what tomorrow brings (clearly ) we can equip ourselves with the tools to tackle whatever comes our way Never underestimate your mindset, determination, attitude, and outlookthey are your best line of defence, and in our experience, where the magic comes from

It’s hard to be-leaf it, but Fall has already arrived in Cloverdale! Without naming names (you know who you are), it’s fair to say a few folks here are a tad more sad to bid farewell to summer than others. But for those of us who are ready to get on gourd, channel the flannel, and curl up with something pumpkin flavoured in hand...well, these blustery days are fully approved

Studiothink 22.08.2020

Cloverdale is rich in history, and our building is no exception. Before it was fully renovated in 2016 it was mostly neglected, but back in the day it used to be a horse stable. Today its a pretty cool place for Studiothink to call its home with a real Yaletown loft feel to it. Yep, were just like Yaletown, but you know, in Surrey. With parking.

Studiothink 09.08.2020

Monday vibes in our hood. We still get a little excited that we get to call this street our home. Its perfect for our Monday donairs, stretching our legs after being hunched over our computers, or even getting a tattoo (which did actually happen on a certain someones birthday last month). We get our hair cut here, we buy gifts here, we eat here, and well, we work here. This street is where local happens, and we are proud of our Surrey address. Do you have a fave thing to do in Cloverdale? Wed love to know!

Studiothink 07.08.2020

It’s a bit of a grey day here in #CloverdaleBC so we’re thinking a pop of colour is in order! Introducing @fylopets a community focused business committed to servicing pet parents of the tri cities. With more than a few cat and dog lovers over here, it was a no brainer to get behind his brand. Dare I say it was a purrrrfect fit? We love their passion and enthusiasm for our furry friends and can’t wait to see their business take off!

Studiothink 07.08.2020

Oh you know, just a little Friday brand inspiration. We are really proud that we could help @equinity_coaching come up with a kickass new brand which included naming, logo and website. And because its Friday, we think this calls for a little happy hour cheers. We hope this small startup business does nothing but AH-mazing things and we are behind her

What does rebel mean to us? It means not being fake, or copycats or cookie cutter. It means being ourselves and allowing others the freedom to be who they are. It means not giving a shit about awards, or cliques or clubs. It means not being part of the establishment, the status quo, the old-school thinking and the underhanded business deals.... It means being strong, and feisty and bold and true. It means hiring people who believe in our core values. It means working with people and companies who crave something better. It means being in Cloverdale instead of a downtown address. It means being swear-y when we feel like being swear-y. Or drink-y when we feel like being drink-y. And even though we hate to talk about it, it means being female led in a male dominated industry. It means genuinely wanting to raise up other people. It means being human and real and having faults and speaking our mind. It means overcoming obstacles so that our talent and passion shine. And most of all it means doing really great, valuable work without compromise. So cheers to the other rebels, you know who you are. Lets kick some ass.

Studiothink 18.07.2020

Here’s a question we get asked a lot. What is brand? Contrary to what you believe, it is not your logo. Please, please, can we stop calling a logo a brand? A logo without brand is just a lifeless symbol, sitting there alone crying into its wine for someone to pay attention to it. A brand is a living thing. It communicates, it changes, it tells a story, it is the ambassador of your company. A brand makes your company come to life. ... It uses all the marketing toolscolour, design, logo, copywriting, social media, advertising, websites, packaging, online stores, and more. It speaks not just to your customers, but to your employees. Want to know 5 things that brand can do for your company? You’re in luck, we wrote a blog about it. Come have a read. https://www.studiothink.com/blog/5-things-brand-can-do/

You know what stands out to us in this quote? The word relations. Its an important word to us, and something that is all too often missing in business. We want to change that, we want to shake things up, treat people right, have genuine connections and do things differently. That to us is magic. Being our rebel Cloverdale, wine drinking, open-minded selves and not being like all the other agencies, thats a great story. If this year has taught us nothing, its that goods and services arent the important part of the equation. We want to embrace that to the fullest, even if, well, you know, our services are pretty damn amazing.

Lets talk about this whole being a boss thing for a minute. If you are in this role, you know its not an easy one. And because its not easy lots of people get it wrong, like, really wrong. Like Britney Spears shaved head wrong. You know what? You can change that. You can become a leader and manager that attracts people instead of repels people. In our latest blog, we are sharing five tips that will help you become the kind of boss that people actually want to work with. Disclaimer: this isnt your traditional boring leadership advicebut it is 100% honest.

A little rebellious, a little nerdy, a tendency to talk to ourselvesyah, we get you. There is a team of extremely talented, hard working, wine and whisky lovers here who will elevate your game. Send us your resume.

Being creative means getting messy. The first idea isnt always perfect. It isnt always right. But who says it has to be? When you run a company, things are going to get messy, they should. Not being perfect is totally okay. The really good businesses, the ones who arent afraid to get creative, who arent afraid to get uncomfortable, who arent afraid to try new thingsthose are the ones we love. They are going to thrive. Allow your company the freedom to get a little messy. You might be surprised at the end result.

Not gonna lie, the amazing recipes on the new Grimms website are making us drool. This local business success story is just one of the reasons that we love creating new websites. The more we can help you succeed, the better off all the businesses around us become. Helping BC companies succeed is something we are fiercely proud of doing. Now that weve launched this gorgeous @grimmsfoods website, all we have to do is sit back and figure out what recipe goes best with one of our signature Studiothink "Client Meetings".

There has been a lot of conversation around here lately about authenticity. Keeping it real. Speaking to people earnestly instead of using corporate buzzwords and sales jargon. We dont know about you, but we crave these type of authentic, human interactions. We want to work with people who are honest and clear about their values. When we all start being real about who we are, and staying true to who we are, our companies get stronger. We create credibility. We deliver customer happiness. We have more engaged employees. Well, we all just have positive feelings about our choices. So, keep it freaking real people. Lets do this.

Happy Summer folks! What better way to celebrate the weather than to share our very own Studiothink summer spritz, Client Meeting. Swipe through this post to grab the recipe for our thoroughly tried and tested aperitif, as well as some five-star reviews from the research team (okay, okay, thats us). But dont just take the word of a few Studiothinkers, try making it yourself and let us know what you think! And, if DIY cocktails arent your thing, dont worry, you can order... a Client Meeting this week at Vault Restaurant while sitting on their new outdoor patio. Who here wants one?

Id like to share one of our core values with you: We build genuine relationships. Its not an easy one to keep in a world where bottom line, sales and budgets are more the norm than sitting down and getting to know a person. This is why our office was specifically built to encourage gathering and personal interactions. The world doesnt have enough connection. If more of us tried to make connections, if we turned off our Slack and had a whisky with someone. If we turned dow...n a Zoom call in favour of inviting someone for a coffee, wouldnt you feel happier? More fulfilled? Morehuman? Yah, yah, I know what youre saying, but, Covid and its true, we do have to be careful and distanced. But there is a fine line between being isolated and making an effort to build relationships, learn about each other and being genuine. So, lets do one small thing today that connects with another person. Lets all try to build a little more human into our day.

We are kind of famous for our websites and brand design (we use the word famous loosely). But we also do branded interiors. This one can be found in South Surrey at the new Pacific at McNally development of 36 detached homes, which if you are looking for a new place to live, are pretty damn sexy. You can thank Distrikt Homes Ltd. and Momentum Realty Inc. for these stunning eye candy homes. Tell them we sent you, but also tell them we are waiting for that glass of wine.

Summer book club? Yes, please. We decided that since we all have to stay home drinking wine in our back yard this summer, we might as well be productive. Our team is kicking off the club with this classic, How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. To be fair, some of us (I wont mention any names @thatsherrychick @jesbra) wanted to read a smutty summer romance book, but this one was the winner and a great book if you want to improve your leadership skills. Want to read along with us? Well post our next one here for August, and you can grab your copy, a glass of wine, and read along. Wed love some recommendations! What do you think our team should read for August? Write your answer below and well add it to our list to vote on!.

Why cant we continue to use tools like Slack and Zoom and work from the comfort of our homes, horrid sweatpants and all? Working from home has proven to be a very positive thing. Figures show that two-thirds of managers report that employees who work from home increase their overall productivity. Big companies like Twitter and Google have taken notice of this as well, opting to allow their employees to work from home indefinitely. Our team here has proven in spades that they... are committed, productive and accountable while working from home. It has been a win-win situation. We get happy employees who enjoy their flexible schedules, and were seeing the same, if not better, productivity, than when they were all in the office full time. There is no question that the work from home model works for Studiothink. BUT. (Yes, theres a but). What about leadership? Can great leaders exist without being present? Check out our latest blog for what our Creative Director @thatsherrychick has to say

Your business may have 99 problems right now, but we can make sure your website isnt one of them Take Cantera Management Group. This youthful, innovative company wanted Studiothink to create a brand and website to reflect who they really are. Through brand story and highlighting their amazing work, we were able to create a new brand that would not only attract new townhome and condo projects, but would appeal to the emerging workforce and drive demand to work within their... company. How about a pop of colour to brighten up this Monday? And a little "did ya know" FAQ, psychological branding thang that every business will find interesting (or maybe a little boring...you tell us!). Ever heard of brand benefits? ... Theyre pretty nifty, and if you havent heard of them, you probably still have an idea of what were talking about. Brand benefits are the value that your customers experience as a result of using your product or service. Lets break it down. There are two types: emotional benefits and rational benefits. Emotional benefits answer the question, how does this product make me look or feel? Essentially, its the emotional reward people experience after purchasing your product or service (and why we all keep buying the latest Apple products). Rational benefits arent as sexy, but they answer the question, what does this product do for me? Were talking features and benefits (another reason we keep buying Apple products). If you dont know what your brand benefits are, it might be time to pour a glass of wine and give us a call.

Okay, yes. This picture has nothing to do with our post, but isnt Cloverdale beautiful!? #gratefulforthesmallthings Here it is: When you start working with a marketing agency, youre bound to hear a lot of weird acronyms and fancy jargon that make you sweat. But any agency worth their weight will take the time to explain what theyre saying to you. ... One of the terms we throw out there a lot is SWOT analysis. SWOT (an acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis is a strategic planning tool that gives you insight into the current state of your business in the context of market and consumer conditions. Why do we like it? It forces you to be brutally honest about where you are today and the possibilities that lie ahead, laying the foundation for brand and business strategies and goal-setting.

Studiothink 22.11.2019

A lot of companies are using this time to try out new social media platforms. Yes, were talking about all those people on TikTok who shouldnt be. Shudder. So many brands try to be everywhere. But you cant be everywhere. It flat out doesnt work. And its not on-brand. If youre new to social, focus on one platform you enjoy using and start there. Instagram is by far the easiest to use and you can connect your posts to Twitter and Facebookas long as they make sense for y...our brand. Dont try to be everywhere. Its a great way to get stressed and experience social media burnout.

We cant keep this a secret. Our entire team L-O-V-E-S working with start-up companies. The fresh ideas, the creativity, the innovation. We could write a love story about how passionate we are about these kinds of projects (we might have already--check our blog ). @itsgavinbains came to Studiothink looking to do one thing: cut the crap. Howd we manage it? With our start-up package. You might be wondering, why a single-page site? Well, it cuts the crap for starters, and se...condly, it fits what most start-up companies need without having to compromise anything. When done right, a single-page site makes a powerful impact and sets the stage for ideas to shine-- and thats just what we did for Gavin Bains. This kickass site was designed in such a way that every element matches perfectly with the brand and Gavins target audience, speaking to their problems and concerns and showing that there is a proven solution to their problems. We cant wait to see whats next for this brand!

Raise your hand if the Amazon guy knows your name by now. Or Skip the Dishes, UPS, FedEX, Canada Post, or really any delivery service active in your area. Yah, COVID-19 has disrupted our lives, but brands are doing a pretty incredible job of accomplishing one of the simplest marketing tacticsconvenience. You can order pretty much ANYTHING you want and have it delivered to your door. Sure, this isnt new, but a lot more companies have taken the plunge and our options have inc...reased like 1000%. Convenience is the ultimate marketing strategy. Remember Steve Jobs response when asked about the Apple iCloud? It just works. And thats what we love to pay for.

With new protocols in place and A LOT of cleaning supplies, were back to crafting beautiful brands in our favourite placeCloverdale! If only we could get rid of murder hornets as fast as PR disasters are getting rid of loyal customers. COVID-19 has brought out the best in some businesses and the worst in others. Why? Companies who put profits before people are being cast into the limelight while companies with values are doing everything they can to help people. Its a BIG difference. Take Jazen Insurance. They do more than plaster their beliefs on their walls. They live by them. They are more than insurance, theyre community, and during this pandemic, theyre doing everything in their power to keep helping people and their community.

Studiothink 15.08.2019

Does your brand voice match your brands personality? Lets say you sell cowboy boots (can you tell were missing the Cloverdale Rodeo?). Your vibe is laid-back and rugged. You shouldnt, under any circumstance, put on airs on social media and post about Christian Louboutin. Thats not you. Not sure what is you? Think about your target audience. Create a mood board with images, quotes, people, and things that inspire your business. Write down who you are and who you are not. See a theme emerging? You bet. Now bring it to life. Yes, its easier said than done and there are a lot more steps if you dig deep, but this is a great self-assessment you can do to figure out your brand voice, and if youre on the right track.
