Studio back door guardian.
Little Gull, a story from Porphyry Island. Written during my Artist in Residence in 2018.
The northern land is calling..
Jack has big furry feet. He jumped up on the table where I was working landing on one of the new paintings. Jack was looking for a pat or two, fixed the smudges he created followed by some paw washing for Jack. "Sorry mom" purr..
Painting more...the magic of nature and all she has to offer.
Summer time painting in my studio...hot humid day with rain in the forecast.
Northwestern Ontario oils...a solitude found only in nature.
Something about this little lake has captured my heart...a rocky shoreline, mysterious forest, the quiet and solitude she offers.
Water, trees, rocks, somewhere on a lake...
Keeping on painting, investigating, moving forward slowly...
My heart aches for the north; the air, the colors, its energy and spirit. Going to look through many trip images, let them speak to me, guide me....
More Northwestern Ontario inspirations...
One more larger work 32x40".
Thought about it overnight, went for a long walk in am, thought some more and finally started painting it....almost there. Now it needs to dry for a bit so a second layer of highlights can be applied...
Definitely love this little gem of a lake close to Quetico Park.
More ideas on canvas...
Well it is feeling like a series.
Sure wish I could have gone for a visit this past summer.
Northwestern Ontario has fired the imagination, touched the soul deeply. My brother took me for a boat ride, showing me the beauty of Chubb Lake, located very close to Quetico Park. Not many camps, and not loads of people, leaving the wilderness untouched, pristine
Paddling for a couple hours watching the light change. Even though the humidity was thick the surrounding water and landscape made for a comfortable paddle. The landscape was alive with creatures. Stirred the soul observing the evening light change..
Just one more small work...
Loved going out with my brother in his pontoon boat. The lake where their camp is located is beautiful, rugged and full of inspiration. Good thing I bought a batch of new canvases, now waiting for me. Two canvases today, and another from a couple of days ago. A series possibly??
One of my heros in painting...
Painted from my drive along Superior last year. The big lake speaks to me...
Ready she is!! Paintings heading south of the border. Thank you hubby for building a solid, strong crate!!
One of my hero's in painting...
In my studio today...Spike the very handsome kitty. A great model he is. He loves sitting in my stack of water buckets peeking out at who ever wanders by.
A close up of my latest work, as she dries on the easel. "Need a drink?", 24"x 30", oil on canvas. Painting will be available in about a months time, oils need drying time.
Vikings and pirate Spike have learned to share the tall water container.
Good morning...
My happy place..
Raining, hurray, say my plants.
Raven's Ridge, Yellow Knife, oil on canvas 40x60"
We need to understand what was done in the name of education. This should no longer be ignored or given a platitude of OMG so upsetting. Cant believe people still deny this or continue to defend this terrible practice.
