Definition A person who has relevant experience of at least 2 one year period and has the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution towards Canada’s economy. How eligibility is assessed?... Self Employed persons are a particular class of people who may become Permanent Residents of Canada if proven that they can become economically established in Canada and their profession is their main source of income. To be eligible for the program a Self Employed person must obtain a minimum of 35 out of 100 points as per the prescribed points system of the selection criteria. Selection Criteria Points System The selection criteria include only five selection factors which are: Selection Factor Maximum Points Age 10 Education 25 Language proficiency in English and French 24 Relevant Experience 35 Adaptability 06 Total 100 To qualify one must have at least 35 out of 100 points. Relevant Experience Minimum program requirement is 2 one-year period of being Self-Employed and only in specified economic activities such as cultural activities, arts, athletics, sports and recreation activities Intention and Ability The applicant under this program must prove and explain both intention and ability to establish a business that will at minimum, create employment for themselves and also will contribute significantly towards the Canadian economy. Some Examples of cultural activities, arts, athletics, sports, and recreation activities include the following occupations. New Student Direct Stream (SDS) The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is an expedited study permit processing program available to legal residents living in China, India, Philippines or Vietnam who want to study in Canada at a post-secondary designated learning institution (DLI) and who meet specific requirements by providing upfront documentation. As of April 30, 2019, SDS applications are being centralized and processed by the Centralized Network (CN), and the service standard f...or SDS processing is 20 calendar days. Only applications received electronically are eligible for SDS processing. Applicants must reside outside Canada at the time of application. Applicants must also be able to provide upfront proof of payment of the first year’s tuition, a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of at least CAN$10,000, language test results, and upfront medical and police certificates, if required, based on the applicant’s country of residence or program of study. Foreign nationals eligible for SDS processing are still subject to all other eligibility and admissibility requirements under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).

Citizenship A person can obtain Canadian Citizenship in different ways such as. 1. Canadian citizenship by birth... Canada considers someone its citizen when being born on Canadian land, airspace, waters and Canadian ships and aircrafts. Citizenship can be granted to a child whose parents were/are not permanent residents or citizen or are working in Canada illegally. Also, a child born abroad whose parents are Canadian citizen gets citizenship automatically. Whereas, citizenship is not granted to a child if parent are/were in Canada for a diplomatic job. 2. Born outside of Canada to a parent who is a Canadian Citizen. Citizenship is granted even if there is no connection Canada found. A child can renounce Canadian citizenship if doesn’t want it. Also, an adopted child from outside Canada is considered in the same way as other children born abroad to a Canadian parent. 3. Become Naturalized in Canada Immigrants who have been living in Canada for at least a specific period of time in the last 5 years take this route. Who have been filling income taxes for each of the 3 years period. Must be between 18-54 years old and must meet the language requirement. Pass the citizenship test and finally take the Oath of Citizenship Citizenship Language Requirements An aspirant must have at least CLB 4 for both listening and speaking. Reading and writing proof is not required. Acceptable exams are IELTS-G, CELPIP-G, TEF Documentation for applying for Canadian citizenship is very important.
