Stump Stalker Archery 26.02.2021

On a red kick again these days. I get inspired by a certain color for a while, then change it up! Had a blue phase, yellow phase and an orange phase. Red is so classic! If your looking for some wood arrows, red or otherwise, I am here to help!

Birthday bow number 2 actually arrived on my birthday! I made a trade with Max, bowyer at Saratoga Traditional Archery, arrows for his family in trade for a bow. And he blew me away! I casually suggested a two piece because I knew he was working on that option, but didnt think that was what I was getting! Wow big surprise! And the yew lams came from a close friend who Max met at ETAR last year! So cool! I am a lucky guy to have another beautiful, powerful Canadian made bow for my rack. I need to shoot more!

Arrow stuck in a dead hemlock looks like arrow stuck in live hemlock. When a western hemlock dies the bark stays intact for a longtime, giving the visual that the tree is still alive. And my arrows must be super tough! Well they are, but this is a little much . . .... #archery #woodarrows #tradlife #tradbow #traditionalarchery #stickbow #tradbowhunting #shootinwood #bushcraft #stumpshooting #madeincanada #haidagwaii #hunting #bowhunting #tradarrowsmatter #primitivearchery #makersgonnamake #classic #sidehustle #craftsman #westcoastprimitive

From the recommendation of Jason Samkowiak I recently purchased my first piece of Kuiu, the Guide Vest! I am not a huge fan of head to toe camo, but do think having some break up when archery hunting is vital, so I went vest. Gives me many layering options based on the season and the weather, plus some water resistant properties. And four pockets! I will wear this with either a base layer in early season, or my heavier First Lite Kiln or Stanfields wool henley deeper into the season. So far I am digging the fit and finish of the vest. Zippers are smooth, vest is light weight AF, verde is a killer pattern. Cant wait to wear it the way it was intended! Do you wear Kuiu?

Missing building arrows. Cant wait to have my shop back up and running at the new place! Only two more weeks of limbo before we set off into the unknown!

New bow!! Super excited that my friend Sebastian offered me this Osage molle in trade for some staves and antlers! This stave was once in my shop, given to me by Ryan, who had it given to him by another bowyer many years ago. Really clean piece of Osage, was roughed out as a Molle, but has this crazy wiggle in one limb! Well Sebastian, you did a wonderful job with it! It shoots really nice, draws super smooth, little hand shock. This is what I love about this primitive archery community, everyone is so generous, sharing information, tools, materials and making trades. It really is something special! Thanks for the f/d pics Blair

A little different than my normal scenery. Haida Gwaii sand dunes are so cool! Looking for deer a few years back on an all day quad ride. No deer but no people either!

No landfill for our targets when they get worn out. They take thousands of shots. Never need repairs. Easy to pull arrows from. Hundreds of different configurations and sizes. Never ending species of animal(whatever you decide to call it!), making holes promotes composting, water penetration, space for other plants roots, fungi colonization, insect homes and buffets for birds. You never get bored of the routine of a 3D course, keeping it fresh. Targets are free. No need to sh...ip foam across the continent or world. No need to lug targets from club house out on the course. Vandalism from bears and humans doesnt happen, and if it does, no biggie. As you can see, shooting stumps is more than just a good time. For someone who thinks about humans impacts on the planet and stacking functions in elements, shooting stumps is a regenerative way to practice archery! See more

I made a dozen of these arrows for Art of Bowhunting in Ontario. I love this style so much. Primitive but with a plastic nock for those who arent into self nocks. Premium Sitka spruce. Its super cool to make Canadian wood shafts into arrows for Canadian archers and bowyers!

Stump Stalker Archery 02.05.2020

Just delivered a dozen of these super light 5/16 Sitka spruce to my pal Ryan Gauthier for shooting from a light draw weight selfbow! At 380gr they will be zippy! We worked out a trade for the arrows for an osage stave. This snakey Bodark will get some WDB skins at some point in the future! Enjoy the arras Buddy!

I watched Planet of the Humans last night. It was certainly different than any other films in the environmental genre. Opens up a whole pile of questions about the new green economy and special interests. I have been following all this stuff for years and have spent many years studying permaculture, so none of the stuff in the film was that surprising to me. But today I woke with a feeling of going back. To the past. Past skills. A world of true abundance of all things. Reg...eneration. True sustainability. The world is in turmoil right now and all I can do is improve my zone 0, all the way to 5. Do the best I can for my family. Hope this shift will being a new awakening for mankind, but I think the addiction to money is too strong I am very grateful for the awesome humans who I know personally or from IG who have vast amounts of knowledge I can draw from to build my skill sets. I appreciate you all See more

How would these look in your quiver? I made up this set of primitive inspired arrows for those that like the look but are not into self nocks. These dozen arrows are cut to a finished 30 and come with either 6 field points and six pistol brass blunts, or I can make them all tapered for points. They are 53/54 spine @trueshaftarchery Premium Sitka spruce shafts that weight 360-369, for a built arrow weight about 475gr. These will be fast shooting, tough and dependable arrows for your wood arrow pursuits! $200CA($145US) plus shipping. Thanks for having a look

Stump Stalker Archery 06.10.2019

Moved my bow rack into our family room. Why not have you bows on display instead of tucked away in a closet or den. There are some good ones, some firewood ones and some that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Bows made by me, made in factories and bows made by dear friends. Show your rack friends!

Stump Stalker Archery 17.09.2019

The woods are calling, I must go. Probably to cut firewood Archery practice, as well as selling our home has taken a major set back, but I am coming to appreciate the things we have and how lucky we are to live where we do. Hoping everyone is doing well and using this time for reflection, gratitude and taking inventory of what is really important in life. (ps it isnt money, fame, followers, consumer good or social status)

Home made kit! Are you crafty? Are you good with your hands? Or do you glue your fingers together in the presence of adhesives? Well it doesnt matter because hand crafting your own archery tackle is within the realm of everyones skill levels! Woodwork, leatherwork, string making, detailed painting, paracord weaving, even sewing your own clothes! There are so many skills one can learn and practice! I love helping people to achieve their own goals for building their tackle! So if you are looking for ideas, inspiration or help, let me know! What are you building yourself for your archery pursuits this year? I will be working on a new yew self bow this year
