At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 (NLT) It’s really easy to get discouraged. Maybe you’ve been believing God for something and you haven’t seen results yet. Perhaps you’ve been doing the right thing for a long time and no one has noticed or acted like they cared. In these situations, it’s really easy to want to be discouraged or quit. However, today’s Bible verse tells us to not get tired of doing good. How do you keep yourself from being discouraged? Many times it helps to remind yourself of the good things God has done for you. You can remember the times He’s brought you out or has been faithful. Sometimes the reward for doing the right thing doesn’t always show up when you think it should or when you expect it. The good news is that God always rewards faithfulness. If you stick with it and don’t give up, you’ll be rewarded. So challenge yourself to stick with it. Don’t give up when it gets hard or you feel like no one notices. Here is a quick update concerning our approach to camp this summer and how we will be engaging our camp community.

The last month for SLBC has been a month of prayer and deliberation. With the ever-shifting climate of Covid-19 and the regulations we must follow it has become clear it is not feasible to run camp for the summer of 2020. It was put into words so succinctly by our current director Brendan New, camp is the opposite of social distancing. Please know this was not a decision based in fear or worry; rather, we desire to be good stewards of the faculty, program and ultimately th...e souls that God entrusts to us. So, what does that mean for 2020, 1. Brendan and Caitlyn are still going to be on staff this summer and are excited about ways they are going to connect with you all digitally and possibly in person as opportunities arise. 2.This is going to give us a year to focus on projects and maintenance that needs to be done. Stay tuned for ways you can be involved. We love and appreciate you all. Thank you all for your ongoing support. We ask that you would continue to support SLBC both through prayer and finances even though the summer program will be much different than usual. Camp Constituents, Due to the Covid-19 virus we are regrettably cancelling our Camp Banquet on March 29th. We know that we serve an awesome and powerful God and we know that He is still in complete control. We also know that our God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7. So please understand that our decision is not a decision based in fear. That being said the Bible is also clear that we are to do nothing thr...ough selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, Philippians 2:35. So out of love we are not holding our Camp banquet this year. We desire to love those who are most vulnerable in our community and support the efforts of our health professionals who are working are hard to contain Covid-19. The Government of Alberta and professionals on this issue have told us that limiting large gatherings is a key response and does save lives. So, in response we ask that you, as our faithful constituents, please be in prayer for this situation. We serve a God that can turn anything to Good and that is our prayer that He uses Covid-19 to show people his Glory and ultimately that people would be brought into relationship with Jesus. Also please continue to support our camp through your finances and prayer and be encouraged we serve an awesome God! God Bless, The Representative Board

Hello! Our names are Brendan and Caitlyn New, and we are your SLBC camp directors for the summer of 2020! We are very excited to assume the role of director and cannot wait for the camp season to begin! Both of us can attest to the fulfilling purpose that this camp plays each year, and we are humbled to play a part in that process. We look forward to the plans that God has for this camp year. Along with you, we wait in blessed anticipation for the start of a new camp season and cannot wait to partner with you both in person and in spirit to see the will of God accomplished.
