The pandemic might have interupted doing services, but it hasn't changed the way we do business. It hasn't changed our purpose. Salons are built to care, to build community and to build connection. ... And we believe that is best done by being inclusive, generous and spreading joy. Our salon is blessed. Blessed with great stylists and great clients. Blessed with structures and opportunities for government support. Our structure as a salary salon has seen us through this pandemic. It gave us easy access to wage subsidies, loans and other support. It made it easy to rebuild cash flow after each return to work. This wouldn't be possible without a team who shared our vision of a different kind of salon. They have always shared the hard work, the risk, and they have stood by us. As a way of saying thank you. As a way of helping them spread their support and affection to their community. We have gifted each team member $100 this week to spend locally. Buy curbside. Order takeout. Show us what you have found and spread the word about the great businesses of Guelph. We will do this again. As long as it takes to support our team and our home. As our week draws to a close we’re reflecting on just how fulfilled we feel to be able to create again. Our colour bar has been mixing up cocktails of fiery reds and icy blondes, with some unicorn inspired purples in the middle. Lockdown has us deeply appreciating every minute we’re allowed to spend with our clients. Thank you for the chats that fill the salon with laughter, the thoughtful gifts of liquid gold , and the I’ll see you again soon goodbyes. We’ve missed all of it (and you) so much. We’re already looking forward to next week! What are we creating for you next?

Baby, the best part of me is you Lately, everything's making sense too Busy. Tired. Relieved. Just some of the words to describe getting back to the salon and reopening for clients.... Another word: grateful! It's been over ten years since the current version of Stylers Inc was started. If we include all the owners, we have been serving Guelph for over 40 years. A fucking institution! And yes Brandy I swore. You wanted me to post! I can only speak of the last ten years but damn it is humbling to be here, to have closed for 5 months over the past 12 and to be thriving. It wouldn't have been possible without our team. Lisa and Kris. Michaela, Miriah, Silvia, and Laci. (Yeah, Laci is back!!) A salon is its team. They are the whole that makes it work. Let's be honest. It wouldn't have been possible without all the staff over the years. They all built this place. We are already missing Candice who returned to school. But we also think of everyone who left their mark on our space. The Originals: Janice, Csilla, Alisha and co. The Eramosa Tribe: Mel, Michelle, Jasmine, Monica, Laura And a salon is not a salon without its clients. They bring the passion and joy. They bring us their compassion, their dreams and their gossip! They bring us coffee!! All the clients who have made us their salon have defined us. They have made us who we are. We love each of you. Except @joanne2535. Someone please take her!! You may have noticed the quality of our photos change over a year ago. You definitely were greeted with a warm smile and a generous heart. You probably saw a group huddled around the front desk because they were drawn to her and loved her chats. This is what happens when you hire a salon coordinator with a photography degree. It happens when you hire a salon coordinator who is warm, friendly, generous and brings people together. Someone who always adds energy to the room.... And we are thrilled that warmth and generosity and energy is about to start a new chapter (for a year!) Today we say goodbye to Laci as she leaves for mat leave (for a year she made me insist!) It is sad to see her go but it is never sad to see the Styler's family grow and watch our team reach for their goals. And yes. This is one way of also saying we have no idea if the photos over the next year will be as good as last year. #sorrylaci #hurryback

Who we surround ourselves with plays a big role in who we become. In other words - choose your friends wisely! The same is true when it comes to business relationships and for a salon the most important partnerships they have are with the brand's they align with for colour, backbar and retail. We have been a UNITE salon for over three years now. Which is to say we were not always one. What changed?... In UNITE we found a brand partner who put the needs of the hairdresser front and centre. We're not going to lie - consultations can be hard. Things can get lost in translation, pictures can be deceiving, and we don't all speak the same colour language. With our new COLORCT system, our hope is to help minimize these difficult issues by increasing the amount of communication between client and stylist. But, when all else fails, and the client isn't satisfied, we are always open to talking about what went wrong, and how we might be able to change the result together.... We had Samantha come into the salon for a colour service, and we were working with her towards a dimensional red with a dark underlay. After the first service, the result was a little too dark, and not exactly what she was hoping for. She reached out to our team, and after a second visit, we were able to get her to her goal by using Schwarzkopf Professional High-Lift Red to cut through the dark, and add more red dimension. We think the new result is stunning, and what a great experience for our team. We're thankful we had the chance to keep working with Samantha to help her towards her goal of happy, healthy, red hair! #clientlove #stylersinc
