Hello Submersive Studios family, For those of you just tuning into our page, welcome! Submersive Studios is a music and arts organization, offering studio spaces within a creative co-working environment to the Victoria, BC community. Our mission is to provide accessible, inclusive and safe experiences of music and art, encouraging creative expression and community connection through events and programming. Submersive Studios has never been driven by profit, but by you, our co...mmunity. This is why we are so excited to announce our official registration as a society (also known as a non-profit organization). We are also announcing our name change from Submersive Tribe to Submersive Studios, and want to thank everyone who has taken the time to provide us with feedback. We want to acknowledge that today the term Tribe may be used by BIPOC as a source of identity. We respect that some folks have reclaimed this term, but not all of our leaders are members of these communities. In using this term as part of our brand, we risk minimizing the violent colonial acts associated with the term and continuing cycles of harm. This does not align with the mission, vision or values of Submersive Studios. We have always been run by a diverse team of people who support harm-reduction policies, protocols and programming. Lastly, we want to thank all of you for being with us and supporting our growth over the past 5 years. Although our organization looks quite different now in terms of events and programming, we are nevertheless excited for this new chapter. This year, we will be focusing on our organizational development, studio space and live-streams to keep artists creating and entertaining while we navigate these uncertain times. Outsider (the solo project created by Jon Camilleri), breathes life into some of the most animated styles on the low end spectrum of sound. Over the last few months we have been busy working on developing our knowledge, skills and capabilities as a responsible creative arts collective and event production organization. Some of you joined us at The Good Night Out workshops that we have been hosting at our space centered on consent and harm reduction. We're sure you would agree that they have been extremely enlightening and packed with powerful knowledge that we are excited to implement into how we approa...ch event curation and management to ensure everybody has a safe, fun and as close to a harassment free experience as humanly possible. Crystal Millions has been reflecting on the deeper meanings and understandings surrounding the ever evolving conversation regarding consent and has decided to share her thoughts.
