Sudbury Blueberry Festival 12.10.2020

** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ** Many people have been asking about the future of the Sudbury Blueberry Festival. Which is why we are happy to share our plans for this year’s festival.. Rather than a weeklong in-person festival, a special contest will replace the popular Blueberry Festival this year due to COVID-19. The annual event has celebrated our best above ground natural resource, the low bush blueberry, for the past 35 years with many events throughout Greater Sudbury. ... Which is why Sudbury Arts Council - Conseil des arts de Sudbury and the Blueberry Festival Committee have planned a "Blue is Beautiful Contest" to celebrate the colour blue, the distinguishing feature of our much beloved tasty fruit.. Open to all ages there are a number of categories including painting (any media), photography, short stories, poetry, music compositions and recipes. Entries must show or contain a reference to the colour blue or blueberries. There will be no cost to be involved and with various age groups there will be equal opportunity for all to take part. The contest will accept entries from June 1st until September 1st. All entries will be posted on the Blueberry Festival website where all entry details will be available. There will be prizes for winners in each category and age group. The entries will be judged by members of the Arts Council and Blueberry Festival. With many events not taking place this summer this contest will give those interested the opportunity to express their creativity in celebrating the colour blue. We know many people are feeling rather "blue" that many summer actives are not taking place but as been said "when you are given a lemon, make lemonade" and that is what we are doing creating a fun and creative activity which we hope many will take part.
