Congratulations Sudbury Basin Potters! Soup’s On Re-Imagined raised $2500 for The Blue Door Soup Kitchen. We are sincerely grateful to Seasons Pharmacy and Culinara for hosting the event, to all the cooks and chefs who prepared delicious soups every day and to all the volunteers who made this event possible.... Thanks to Viki Maher from Sudbury Basin Potters for coordinating Soup’s On Re-Imagined and thanks to all the potters who made and donated over 120 bowls for the event.
We are also selling bowls for the soup kitchen at Seasons Pharmacy at 815 Lorne St as noted on the poster above.

REMINDER MOST important is a commitment from every member to NOT visit the studio if you have ANY covid symptoms. Sign in every visit will be mandatory. By signing in, you are signing this statement: "My signature below confirms that I do not have fever new onset of cough chills unexplained fatigue headache sore throat runny nose stuffy or congested nose lost sense of taste or smell difficulty breathing difficulty swallowing pink eye digestive issues (nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain)." This is crucial to keep the studio open!
Soup’s On Reimagined! For the past several years the Sudbury Basin Potters invited 600 people to St Andrews Place over two days to choose a pottery bowl and ...enjoy a bowl of homemade soup. Can you imagine that now? Nope. We still want to support the Blue Door Soup Kitchen so we found another way. We are partnering with Seasons Pharmacy and Culinaria to offer one hundred handmade bowls, and the opportunity to enjoy a bowl of homemade soup between November 20 and Nov 30th! Only 30 bowls will be on display at any time, so there is no need to be ‘first’ in line. New bowls will be added as needed. All the bowls will be priced at $12, and all the money will be donated to the Blue Door Soup Kitchen. Bowls will be available until they run out, and soup will be made every day from November 20-30 (except Sundays). Every day that Soup’s On at Seasons, a guest chef will be making soup on site at 815 Lorne St. Sudbury. Soup will be available for $8/500 ml (plus deposit on the jar, or bring a jar), or book a time to dine in the store. Seasons will be taking reservations for groups of 2 or 3, so please call 705-222-2200 to ensure your spot. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9 to 6, and Saturday from 10 to 4. ***In lieu of other craft sales this fall, the potters will host a sale of our works at Gallery 174 on Elgin St the last weekend in November. Shop local for Christmas!*** Check out our Facebook page for details. Sudbury Basin Potters Guild
I did not give credit to the person that took this photo of the raku masks....please claim if it is your photograph
just found out it is International Potters day...miss having the studio up and running...
Thought it may be helpful for those that do not have a copy. This chart could probably be purchased at any Pottery supply shop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch The Gardiner Museum in Toronto is a delight to visit ..I receive their newsletter and found this U Tube presentation by a past curator entertaining and informative. With time on my hands these social distancing weeks have given me the opportunity to virtually visit so many pottery places..and have enjoyed so many workshops. Can't wait to get back to the studio.
ancient Egyptian clay figures
White Mountain Academy had an outdoor firing ....lots of pots inside big pots and huge bonfire ....very exciting to see the fire...was not there for the reveal of the work inside.
big pots were full of smaller pots and fuel that would burn as well
So today I've mostly been making #bread ...... the kiln is great for baking bread n'that. .. Mmmm ......now where did I put the cheese .
