Wow, so many inquiries lately! I figured it might be worth a few refresher posts on who we are, and the services we offer to the community. A quick reminder that the low-barrier employment program remains closed (since Aug, 2018), though we remain hopeful with the ongoing interest the community is showing, there will be a way for this program to return again one day.

The Reloadable Payment Card (RPC) is available for citizens receiving Social Assistance. The RPC is an alternative electronic method of payment for Ontario Works clients who are unable to open and/or maintain a bank account for direct bank deposit (DBD). The RPC is a more convenient, secure and reliable method of payment than a cheque, for clients who cannot use DBD. For more information, visit: https://www.greatersudbury.ca//financial-assistance-ontar/ ********************...****** La carte de paiement rechargeable est offerte aux citoyens qui reçoivent des prestations d'aide sociale. If you are on ODSP, the government is offering a 1-time emergency benefit of $100 for individuals and $200 for individuals with a dependent or couples. All you needs to do is call your ODSP caseworker and REQUEST the benefit. The money is then deposited in your account at the end of the next business day. Also, there is information below about additional money available to PARENTS.... Note: If you are a parent who is already receiving Support for Parents payments through direct deposit, you will be automatically eligible for this financial support and do not need to submit a new application. A note on our Alternatives to Suicide peer support group: Effective January 2020, the monthly evening group has been removed due to many months of attendance is...sues. We have decided to make a change and for the time being, are only continuing to offer a group on the last Tuesday of the month at 12 p.m. We strongly believe in the value of this group. If the desire for and commitment-to-attend an evening group is communicated enough to us, we could reconsider this offering again. To connect with a facilitator around this, or any other matter related to this group, call 705-222-NISA (6472) or email [email protected] Here is also a helpful list of 10 ways to approach telling someone you're struggling with your mental health (when the idea of reaching seems really hard), originally written by Sam Dylan Finch and published on his Let's Queer Things Up blog.
