What a wild day! Hope everyone has made it out in one piece! We lost power 3 times downtown. Wish we were on the north side! Crazy weather! Sorry if we missed anyone for take out or were unable to those that were in during the outrage! We couldn't risk setting off the fire suppression system without the exhaust hood on during the outage...unless you like fire extinguisher foam on top of your rice ;) Check out this huge tree that fell by the church taken by Gary Mallalieu:

For those of you who saw a few weeks ago, we made the paper! Heres a copy for anyone who wants to see a brief history on us! I also included some before and after pictures for any long time residents to reminiscence of our original location "The Dragon Restaurant" which is where Jennies is today. Alot has changed with the store front since then. It has been nicely restored from the dreaded brickwork during that time, as well as the reconstruction of the Victoria Bridge in... 1984 which you can see is much better suited for todays traffic (and number of trucks) that cross it today. If you ever been to Jennies, you will noticed that there is a hallway that joins the neigh-boring store, which at one point was the Royal Edward Tavern, run by Nancy and Jim Skirten during the mid 80s. You could say it was the "customs house" of its time that included everything from a bar to a full fledge dance floor. Both the restaurant and tavern promoted each other, with the idea of dining and entertainment under one roof; having Chinese food and chowing down on an all you can eat smorgasbord, then walking over next door for some drinks and fun right after! Wishes everyone a Happy New Year 2018! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and patience over the holidays and apologize for anyone who couldnt reach us on our busiest night of the year and to those of you who had to wait longer then usual. We were overwhelmed and fully booked with take outs between 4-9 New Years Eve with JUST pre orders by 3pm! Weve never had such a packed night of take outs and will try to keep up more for next yea...r! For future reference, New Years Eve / Day, Mothers Day and Christmas Eve or even if you plan on having a big dinner some night, feel free to call in a few hours early or even a couple days in advance to book a time and have your order at least prioritized for that evening! Thank you all again for your support and patience with us, we had a wonderful 2017 and wish you all again, a happy new year! See more

Did you know our original location was at the Royal Edward hotel back in the 1980s? Thats over 30 years ago! We were called the Dragon Restaurant where Jennies is today. This ad was published in the St.Marys brochure book of 1985.

An overlap of what the original storefront looked like before and after, which largely is still there minus the shoes!
