Sadly, due to COVID-19 we are permanently closing our doors. I will be at the studio Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00-7:00. Anyone with items at the studio may stop by this week to pick them up. All dance-wear needs to go, so please stop by to do some shopping. We have a large variety of new and used items. Sales on all new items! This is a very tough time, but thank you to everyone for your wonderful support over the years . I cannot begin to say how much I will miss my SSD family in the coming months.

Another exciting addition to our staff next year! Emma and Nicola Hopley!! Still some space available in classes but don’t wait and miss out, register now! Register online, or stop by the studio next week Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 4:00-7:00! Emma & Nicola Hopley were born and raised in Penticton, BC. They began their love of dance at the age of 4 and have never looked back. Throughout their 15 years dancing, Emma & Nicola trained in all genres with some of the best ...choreographers in the world. They travelled to Long Beach, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver and New York to add to their experience. They also spent 6 months in 2016 rehearsing with and then competing with Team Canada Dance in Riesa, Germany. Most recently Emma & Nicola spent a year in New York City training at Peridance Center and learning from some of the top choreographers in hip hop, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and ballet. Due to world circumstances, the girls came home to Penticton and this is where they will be for at least the next year, teaching and continuing to train. They hope to return to New York in the near future to continue to pursue their passion but they are also very excited for the opportunity to work with young dancers in the Okanagan, sharing their passion for dance. Wowza!! Such an great day! We had a Covid-safe year end recital outside, and it was so much fun! I am so impressed with how all the kids danced today, thank you to everyone for helping me end such a strange year in the best way! Last day of 2019/2020 season classes today.. all ready for our park performance next week! Instead of being sad this season is ending we can instead just be excited for next season!!! Introducing another fantastic new teacher: Daeshel Heidelbach! Daeshel will be teaching some Jazz Technique, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, and Tap classes next year! Don’t forget to register online before classes fill up! Daeshel began dance at the age of three and has been teaching dance for over ...15 years. She has taught and choreographed in dance studios and community organizations throughout BC and Alberta. Tap is her passion, and she also loves sharing her love and expertise of various other dance disciplines through teaching and choreographing. Daeshel is a mom of two young busy boys and is also a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. She loves being able to share her professional knowledge of physical training as it applies to dance through her teaching. She looks forward to working with everyone at Summerland School of Dance! Getting excited for next season, registration is open and classes are filling up! Introducing one of our amazing new instructors; Loretta Beamish-Lachner! Loretta will be teaching Ballet and Pointe this year. We are thrilled to welcome her to our team! Loretta comes with over 40 years teaching experience. Loretta received her teacher’s training in London, England at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance where she grad...uated with a Diploma in Teaching of Dance as well as becoming a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance, an honour given only to those who have graduated from the Academy. Upon graduation she taught in London for a year then moved home to Canada to teach in Edmonton for the next 11 years as Ballet Director of Castle Downs School of Dance. I had a great time taping the floors today with Miss Arlene, and Miss Lisa! We are all so ready to get back in the studio July 20th with safe distance dancing boxes! Different coloured sides for fun learning, and a matching coloured box at the side of the room for water bottles and personal belongings! I know it was hard to wait.. but it will be that much safer to get back in two weeks!! .......did I mention registration for the 2020/2021 season is now open!! Congratulations Alice!! Great job practicing! With the decline in entries (I know the kids are busy with homeschool now) I have decided this will be the last draw.
