I am sad to report that despite our best hopes, our Solstice Celebration is cancelled. I rent Lakeside Park, Port Dalhousie, Ontario beach from the City of St. Catharines and they have just sent me this email: "As you know, All City facilities continue to be closed to the public until further notice." "Our team has been given direction, for planning purposes, that the closure will be extended until at least June 30th. And there is no absolute guarantee the facilities will be open and available even then." As a daughter and descendant of farmers come to Canada from Sweden and Ireland, this is how I think of the Summer Solstice, as an agrarian celebration for the long sunfilled days ahead, of the life-giving growing season. :) Carla Carlson, Niagara Nature Tours

The timing of the June solstice is not based on a specific calendar date or time; it all depends on when the Sun... reaches its northernmost point from the equator.
