I met Levonne Gaddy two years ago when we did a photo shoot for her new book cover. I was excited about it but I had no idea how much I will learn. Levonne is a writer, artist and an activist. Her book is about growing up in segregated South as a little girl from biracial family. The book opened a door for me to a place and time I didnt know much about. It opened my eyes and my heart. I haven’t posted for a while now and I decided to post a picture of me to let you all know what I was doing in last three weeks. The last few weeks were for me and, I believe for many of us, a big learning curve and an intense emotional experience. I learned so much about society, community I live in, people around me and myself. I can’t say I discovered new things about others and myself, but rather confirmed clearly what was just foggy intuition bubbling under the surfac...e. I was amazed how clearly I could see values, principles and goals of others and myself, and I am deeply thankful for that. In last three weeks I have been busy. I sew, I emailed, I texted, I gave away many masks and I started a Facebook group Masks4all VI. I made a quick pdf with instructions how to make masks and some tips how to handle it. I knew that my business will have to wait. Even though I have so much to do (final touches on my website, order new business cards, flyers, plan marketing, make tables, shoot and learn, learn editing, and so on), I felt I have to put everything aside. I needed to start sewing, talk about the masks and spread awareness. It was helping me to deal with the situation, with the anxiety and uncertainty, and I hope it helped others in our community. I believe there is so many lessons we can learn from this. The main one is that every little action of an individual has a big impact on all of us. Coronavirus post - I don’t want to add to the stress but I need to say this. The last few weeks confirmed how much people lack ability to speak with each other with respect and understanding and trying to find common ground. We are pushed to be in a camp A or B. "A" means fears, panic, freaking out, etc. "B" means "it's a normal flu", money above all, nothing can happen to me, everything is conspiracy people. People who give hugs to others in this situation, just to... prove they are invincible heroes and the other people are a bunch of fear mongering cry babies. And both groups are judging each other for their opinion. Some of the posts and comments are sadly an essence of arrogance, ignorance and self centred ness. There is no common sense, no compassion and consideration of others. I totally agree that media are doing terrible job and as usually are sensational and fear mongering, instead of helping the situation. . It’s not only about you and your holidays and your business. It’s about thousands and thousands of people with lower immunity, people who are in treatments for cancer or other diseases, weaker people, kids who are asthmatic or have other problems, our parents and grandparents. We are doing what Italy was doing a while ago and look at the situation in the country of art, history and pizza now. My friends and family in the Czech Republic are in quarantine and some of them already have the virus. . I am not near panicking (I think we are going to be soon out of toilet paper because I didn’t stock up) and I am not fearful. I wash my hands all my life. However, right now I think we should be all responsible and think in a bigger picture. Further than my own holidays, my own business and generally me. We might handle the virus well (Yes, we can have it as we can have a flu. I get it.) but we can transmit it to someone who can’t. And that is the point. Taking precautions is not being fearful or in panic. It’s a common sense. Let’s use that common sense and our compassion for each other and stay positive. (Not this positive ) . Support locals The healthy eating is always important but these days even more so. I love sprouting seeds at home to get lots of nutritions and a very yummy addition to any meal. . I was just sprouting broccoli seeds the other day and I realized how ideal the seeds are for situations like the one we are in right now. They are not perishable and you can have lots and lots in your pantry for a long time. When you are busy or when you are limited to go out to get fresh vege...tables and fruit, you can sprout these at home and have fresh vitamins all the time. Lets hoard seeds! If you feel like this is a sale pitch, its because it is! Is anyone missing the sun? Lets look at some pictures from the beach to get some summer vibes. This photo shoot was all about Lisa and her tribe. (I will be posting more of these girls) All studies now are confirming what we knew since we were little girls. Yes, every woman, every girl needs girlfriends. I have been very lucky to have real girlfriends. I say real because we stand by each other not for years but for decades. We go through good times and bad times. We ...go through weddings, divorces, births of our kids, ups and downs and lots of laughter and tears. I am so thankful I have girlfriends who love me the way I am - I dont have to look for words to say the right thing at the right time. I dont have to pretend I am fine when I am not. I dont have to downplay my successes or dreams because they are genuinely happy, celebrate with me with honest joy and encourage me on my journey. I know that they are here for me no matter what. And that is priceless. Yes, every woman needs a girlfriend. We dont need a research to know its better (and more fun!) than a personal shrink.

I havent done yoga since the end of November and I sure can feel it in my body and mind. I went back to doing my morning routine and I have to start going to the studio regularly again. When I do my yoga I feel totally different. We had a photo shoot with the owners of Yoga Grace Teresa Byer and Engel Pherecydes , and all other great teachers at the studio at the end of November. Ever since I was a little girl I watched a Czech Cinderella movie every Christmas. It became a tradition and I am very close if I say I watched it for about 30 years. That means I watched that movie 50ish times as some years I would watch multiple times. This Cinderella movie is set in winter time and its so mushy that I always cry. Always at the same spot. Maybe thats why I find winter so romantic and sentimental. Btw, my daughter got married in winter in Canmore. Talk about romantic and sentimental... and me crying . I love this photo of Berniece. It was taken two years ago when she was celebrating 90th birthday. Berniece is a positive lady with an incredible zest for life and she is quite an adventurer.
