Summit Safety Training

On April 14 there was a family ATV course for parents and their children. 7 people signed up all successfully completed the training. Great job youth !!!! All appeared to have fun.

On April 12 I was able to ride with some graduate operator safety course candidates in the Tamahi area. Snow was encounter to the point where we had to turn around. One of the atvs had the wrong battery bolts to attach the battery leads. The leads were very loose to the point when riding the unit ran the shorted out a few times. Given we were still at the trucks I broke out the zap straps to prevent a short. Then two pieces of chewing gum chewed a bit was used on each post t...o prevent the movement of the battery leads. The ride was successful as no ill timed engine stops. On the way down the hill one rider got a rear flat tire with a 3 inch gash in the sidewalk. No one had plugs for me. So after using about 10 plugs the tire was repaired in about 15 mins n the ride continued. As such a number of learning opportunities for all. Keep the rubber side down and have fun!!!! Jim

On April 11 a full course of 8 UTV Operator Safety course candidates successfully completed their training in Chilliwack. The weather was wet in the morning but got better in the afternoon. Now for the ground to dry out so grooming of the range can occur. Overall a great day had by all. ... Jim

What’s next for for AJM Summit Safety Training in 2019 and on. ATV and UTV Operator Safety Training as well as a youth ATV Operator Safety Training Courses in early mid April. Mid April to end of May conducting instructor and operator safety courses in Dawson Creek, Brucejack Mountain and then Iqaluit. ... Planning stages are action for an ATV and UTV instructor training in mid June 2019 for the Chilliwack area. Long distance planning for Newfoundland and Labrador in Happy Valley Goose Bay, Labrador and/or near St John’s. March 30 to April 1 saw 7 new UTV instructor candidates successfully complete their UTV instructor upgrade training in Chilliwack, BC. These instructor candidates came from central BC to the Fraser Valley.
