AVALANCHE SKILLS TRAINING LEVEL 1 SLED Summit Avalanche Consulting is offering an Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 course on Friday Dec 11th and Saturday Dec ...12th from 6p-930p at the Blackcomb Snowmobile Base office The field day will take place on either Saturday December 12th or Sunday December 13th . *Discounts for PMSC riders subsidized by Blackcomb Snowmobile (BSM). See Jeff Drummond, [email protected] the Operations manager of BSM for details regarding PMSC discount. The AST 1 classroom component will be held at Blackcomb Snowmobile Base field office in the Callaghan on Friday Dec 11 from 6p-930p and again on Saturday December 12th from 6p -930p. On Saturday December 12th and Sunday December 13th, the field portion of the course will take place in the Brandywine. The Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 course is designed to provide students with the ability to assess snowpack and terrain to make solid choices in avalanche country on a sled. The field portion of the AST 1 equips riders with the ability to assess the snowpack in real time and make decisions in terms of selecting the right terrain given the snowpack conditions in that given area. The afternoon of the field day will be spent dialing in your avalanche rescue technique in a variety of scenarios and contexts to make you the best riding partner possible.
