The updated Covid restrictions do not allow for music to be above speaking level which pretty much means no amplified blues shows for the foreseeable future. The remaining Sunday blues shows are cancelled. Check in on the The Queen's website as Jerry is working on acoustic shows and any support you can show to the players and venues is appreciated!! The Sunday Blues Jam will be back one day when this darn virus is under control - stay safe and strong!

* CANCELLED DUE TO DR. HENRY’S NEWEST RESTRICTIONS AS OF SEPTEMBER 8th. I hope you all had a great weekend. We need your help. We have a great show this coming... Saturday September 12 at the Queen’s Hotel. We need you to show your support for the Blues in Nanaimo, live music and the Nanaimo Blues Society. I have been trying very hard to give you back the live music that you have all missed so badly, as well as get our island based musicians back playing and earning a small bit of money. This Covid 19 pandemic has been horrible for the Society and the artists as well as the Queen’s the best live music venue in Nanaimo has taken a hell of a beating. We will be following all the rules that Dr Henry has put in place to ensure your and the community’s safety. We need you to buy some tickets and attend the shows. The NBS is not making anything from these shows 100% of the ticket sales money goes to the bands. We are doing this because it is our mandate to support live blues music here on the Island. This is a responsibility that we take extremely seriously. We can only sell 50 tickets for these shows under the current guidelines Please help us keep our musicians working. Tickets are available at nanaimoblues.tickit.ca. The ticket for this show is only $20.00 for two great bands. I really hope to see you at the Queen’s Saturday night. I will have a brand new 2021 calendar for sale with great pictures of the artists from previous Summertime Blues Festivals featured. This Sunday Aug. 30th there will be a blues show with Robbie Bracken blues band - 5 - 8:00 pm. $15 and covid safety precautions are followed.

This week the feature band for our Sunday Blues show is Three Times the Biscuit. Pierre Komen, Phil Whipper and all the cool cats will be on the stage at 5. Show is 5 - 8 pm.

This Sunday August 9th Blues show will feature Blue Sky with Alan Medcalf and Don Peterson with Rhonda’s powerful vocals. Show runs from 5-8, COVID rules in effect. $15 pp

Update - Whitey Somers and his band will do a show this Sunday 5-8. Message if you want seats saved.$15 for the show and Covid rules in effect. No dancing at the table but no limit on the fun and grooving you can do in your seat!

We will run Sunday blues shows at the Queen's while the jam is paused. Shows will run from 5-8 pm and $15.00 at the door. Same rules, 50 people maximum and no dancing. Poster will be coming out in a couple of days and there will be a blues show this Sunday August 2nd. Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement to keep the shows going!

The Covid rules for bars and nightclubs have been updated for everyone’s safety. Unfortunately I will not be able to continue the Sunday Blues Jam after this Sunday until further notice. Once the restrictions are lifted and we can safely get larger groups we will be back to jam and dance again! There is a jam tomorrow with Thomas Morris and this will be the last one for awhile.
