Local Musher Wins Big Race! Stefaan De Marie (friend and co-owner of Akela's Den which supplies Sundogs dog food and sled dog gear) came in just after 7AM this morning in the Canadian Challenge 350 mile- 12 dog race. The dogs were happy but tired. They were still wagging tails and ate very well on the line. Taking more rest at checkpoints at the end paid off to keep the spirit high. Sundogs season is underway. Monica and Peter enjoyed a trip this morning with an 8 dog team lead by the ever-reliable Ms. Leggs and Meow Meow. The rest of the day we were out on Puppy Camps with visitors to the Elk Ridge area. About 2" of fresh snow in past 24 hours. Trails are getting better every day.

The snow has arrived, trails are ready and the dogs are in early season training. Sundogs opens for excursions on Sat. Nov.24 We will be running Puppy Camps, 1 and 2 hour trips until we switch into the full range of trips on or around Dec. 10 depending upon how much new snow we receive between then and now.

We’ll work with you to select a destination in our operating area of over 80 sq. miles of wilderness on the eastern boundary of Prince Albert National Park. We took our backcountry camp out two days ago. The warm days and sunshine have melted out the backcountry trails. Sundogs winter has come to a close. We will be doing some school visits later this month and are available for dryland puppy camps (1 hour) as well as school programs (we come to your school with sled dogs and sleds) in April. We'll start taking bookings for next winter season on May 1.

Badger is a good command leader but not the hardest working dog. He makes up for it at Sundogs by being a great Puppy Camp rep. and overall 'handsome boy'.

Season is drawing to a close as the trails begin to melt out. If winter makes another appearance we may have a run or two available on weekends later in March. Call or email for booking status.
