From Sunfest's inception in the early 90’s and as part of its culturally diverse music series, Colombian artists have been part of the our artistic programming even before the official launch of our summer music festival in 1995.

This initiative gathers together over 15 US & Canadian festivals, who have been forced to adjust to the new virtual presenting reality. The online festival starts this Saturday, August 29 and runs through September until October 1. TD SUNFEST SPOTLIGHT ON: EAGLE FLIGHT SINGERS is an ensemble consisting of fathers, sons and close friends of Plains Cree, Ojibway and Haudenosaunee decent. They sing in what is known as Straight Northern Original in the "Pow-wow" style, which originated in the western states and provinces. Pow-wow singing is derived from ancient ceremonial practises; however, after a half-century of gift giving and sharing, it has evolved into more of an inter-tribal celebration spread acr...oss North America. The group's performances, at many educational and professional events as well as festivals, consist of structured vocal compositions accompanied by a raw hide drum. .
