So a while ago I came across a hilarious tweet by Jon Blair: "Captain America always looks like a bird just flew away with his hot dog" (https://twitter.com/okjonblair/status/1122888831873769474) and its been sitting in my brain since then, and eventually - despite the fact I am not very good at drawing people - I gave into trying to capture the mental picture of it and here we are. Saw some posts a while back with a challenge to redraw something you had drawn in the past, and in my usual slow fashion I finally finished! A few years ago I started drawing firebirds in other species than the usual eagle or heron/peacock phoenix hybrids, and so I did a songbird firebird which is what I chose to redraw, this time I was able to show the tail better and i added some blue accents to give it that "natural gas flame" aesthetic which I think looks nice against all the warm fiery colours :) These intense reds, oranges and yellows are SUPER hard to scan accurately so Ive included a photo taken with my phone in daylight to try prevent the reds in particular from ending up so blown out lol Hope you enjoy all these wee flaming birbs :D

I started these two companion pieces in Dec last year as Winter Solstice greeting for you all, but I under-estimated how long the full size versions many little details would take (it was more ambitious than my usual 5" x 7" portrait type illustrations) and then world events distracted me until today, when I noticed it was the last thing I scanned, about a month ago In some ways its fitting to the season we are currently in, with winter just past (for those of us in the... northern hemisphere anyway) and we are now living in uncertain times, full of unexpected complications and delays. But we are all in this together, if you need a light to guide you or a connection to tell you that you arent alone, I am here with all the light I can bring. We are here for each other, we will be a beacon for each other in these darker times, and we will get through this together See more

Sad to spread the news that Anime North 2020 has been cancelled But I have taken the option to roll over my table booking to 2021, so I will be in the Craft Corner next year with TONS of new stuff! Im really sorry everyone, it is always great to see you all at AN, but dont worry, the following year is going to be AMAZING because we will be so excited to be there!

I took a trip out to BC last summer to visit some friends and had a chance to capture some gorgeous birbs, both at a raptor center we visited and around BC, hope you enjoy a selection of pics from my photography efforts

I still make crocheted dragons now and then, when someone asks! This was a commission from last fall, what a lovely vibrant colour combination

I am incredibly happy with the results of a collaboration between myself and Roman Pochtalon/RPochtalon on Etsy, I brought him a wallet design with my Sunhawk motif (I love oak leaves and often include them in personal work) and he did an absolutely stunning job! Not only did he capture every detail of my illustration but added detail as well! The interior is also gorgeous, with lots of card slots, a super clever hidden coin pouch and a fancy chainmail style chain. Thanks to Yarn Monster Cosplay for posting the great photo of the "improved" bee plushy "After discussing with the artist, we covered the bee in catnip and tossed it to the cats. We call it The Cocaine Bee and Max loves it." And shoutout to her amazing yarn-based cosplay, looks amazing! :D

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table at Fanexpo, it was so great seeing so many friendly faces both old and new! I have been part of the Artist Alley for 10 years and every time I have such a blast seeing all the great costumes, talking about different fandoms and art and having all sorts of great meetings of the mind Hope to see you again at Fanexpo 2020!

Sometimes I have to remind myself I can make art for me too! So I made myself a bracelet of sandalwood beads (smells delicious!) and added some lion and lotus beads with a matching pretty teal set of tassels because why not lol think it came out real nice

In Portugal, the mythical Rooster of Barcelos (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooster_of_Barcelos) is often portrayed as a black rooster with a whimsical pattern of colourful dots, flowers and hearts. One of my best friends recently had both a birthday AND she graduated as a para-legal (so proud of her!!) so I decided to do my own version of the traditional goodluck figure :D Plus has that nice tie-in to the world of law, from the roosters story. This rooster is surrounded by cork oak which is native to Portugal, whose bark is used to make wine corks, and Portugal is famous for their wine as well, hence the wooden barrel of port and the grapes in the background :D Thanks to DeSerres for doing a lovely job adding an accent matting to the framing :D

First new art of 2019! :D I have decided I need MORE RAINBOWS in my art! AND MORE BIRDS!! So first up, a red-tailed hawk, my fave! :D Do you love rainbows too?? TELL ME ABOUT IT!! :D *HIGHFIVE*

Here is the mystery print that I debuted at FanExpo this year - a different kind of fanart! I am a big Captain America fan but not that great at drawing people so I decided to combine Captain America with my other great love: BIRDS!
