Last week we had a visit (outdoors) with staff from the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council. They are "the Voice of Ukrainian Albertans". They came to Sunnyside to deliver health kits containing toiletries and treats to our residents. In the photo are David Hanson MLA, Orysia Boychuk, President of UCC Alberta, Amil Shapka, volunteer UCC Alberta and Oleksandr Danyleiko, Consul General Canada. As well Yuliia Marcinkoski, Provincial Coordinator UCC Alberta,... Emma Wolodko, Project Coordinator UCC Alberta and Donna Hanson came to share this opportunity. Amil Shapka told us about his new project celebrating the 130th Anniversary of Ukrainian pioneers arriving in Alberta and locally between 1899 to early 1900's. The exhibit will be featured at the St Paul Museum hopefully in the spring 2021. It deals with early Ukrainian Culture and hardships endured by the famiies at the time. We are looking forward to seeing this display! See more

Our resident Doris (Robinson) Blanchette arrived at dinner wearing her Robinson tartan skirt set. The tartan originated with the Gunn Clan from which the Robinson name evolved from. Doris is holding the huge 'Robinson Treasure' History book of about 600 superbly detailed pages. It starts pre-immigration and goes to the family as of about 2005. It was published by Don Evans a second cousin by marriage to Doris. Robbie Burns dropped in for a photo with Doris!

Happy Thursday from Sunnyside!! Well it is starting to feel like fall. We had a great summer and are looking forward to the change of season and beautiful fall colors. Gail took the residents out for a country drive yesterday and of course had to stop for coffee. It was great to check on how harvest is going and see the all the activity. Today we had a special treat! Gianetta Baril came to Sunnyside with her harp! She travels in her van and we went outside to listen to the music. It was wonderful and so soothing! Her harps name is "Amadei" and she also has a travelling partner - her cat named Misty. So cute! Well we hope everyone is staying healthy and happy! Until next time, take care!

Happy Friday from Sunnyside! We are missing the annual rodeo week festivities here in St. Paul so we decided to have our own rodeo day! It started off with a terrific rodeo breakfast and at lunch Caroline sang to us!! Then for supper we are having a cowboy cookout! We had to say goodbye to our summer students last week and this week. They were so awesome and dedicated to us this summer! It was not easy with the pandemic but they stuck through it and totally enriched our lives! We are going to miss you Taylor, Keara, Brooke and Samantha. All the best to you this year! September has come so quickly and we are hoping it is good to us all and we all stay safe and healthy! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello all! Happy Thursday to everyone. We have had another great week here at Sunnyside. Firstly I would like to express our gratitude. To the St Paul 4H Multi Club for their wonderful donation of a bird feeder. The club purchased this bird feeder from Bob Marcyniuk and donated it to us along with two bags of bird seed. The birds have discovered it and are loving it. Thank you so much for such a wonderful gift ! Yesterday we had a carnival!! We had an awesome carnival themed ...meal and a bit of entertainment from Caroline and then we played carnival games ! So much fun ! Of course to end the day properly, we had ice cream !!! I wanted to remind our families that there is a drive by car rally for Sunnyside on Sat. August 15. If you would like to participate in this, you can meet at the high school parking lot at 10am. Enjoy your weekend everyone See more
