Here is Mark installing a geotextile fabric at the base of a raised stone patio we completed this summer. Geotextile is a thick, woven membrane that acts as extra support to prevent any sinking of interlocking stones in the future. By compacting the sub-grade, pulling and stapling the fabric tight and installing your compacted sub-base, bedding layer, and stones, you can ensure that the patio will stand up to the freeze and thaw cycles of the Winter. Geotextile fabric provides valuable insurance and protection to ensure the longevity of your patio, sidewalk, or driveway. Little tricks and attention to detail like this are what make your project amazing, and is why Sunny Skies is the Difference Between Good and Great!

Check out this major backyard renovation! The old backyard was overgrown, messy, with no intention or style put into it. We removed everything, put in gardens, trees, lawn, and a raised vegetable garden. It’s nice to see the finished project!

Here are some before and after photos of a project from a few weeks ago. The client had a really nice Gazebo put in, but the contractors had left the concrete pad edge unfinished. So, we faced it with stone, installed river rock and black mulch in the surrounding gardens, and re-lay the interlock that needed fixing.

Shoutout to Norbert for his hard work and dedication. Here, we were re-laying a flagstone patio which was incorrectly installed only 3 years ago. What started as a simple regrouting, became a full re-lay because of the carelessness or lack of skill from the previous contractors. Almost all of the flagstone tiles were loose after only two years. After lifting a few of them up, we noticed that the mortar was incorrectly mixed because it was flaking like sand and a lot of it was... able to be scooped out with a shovel. This is likely what caused the grout to become loose and crack in the first place. On top of that, the mortar on top of the concrete pad was so thick (almost 4 in some parts), which made for a lot of cement mixing to get the grade back to the right height to meet the driveway and front porch with the proper slope. Here are a few progress and completion shots of project from this Summer. Last fall we did the front yard (see a few posts ago, with the raised patio, fountain, and steps). Stay tuned for some professional shots to really capture the beauty of this project.

I always love looking back at completed projects. It really makes all of that hard work worth it. We’ve been so busy this year, that I haven’t been updating the facebook feed with photos.
