Hey! Thanks for connecting with us this morning - say hi in the comments to let us know you're here

SunRidge Community Church 19.01.2021

This past Christmas we collected a Christmas Eve offering to go towards the building of a new boys dorm through Child of Mine @com_onefamily (children's homes in Northern India). A donor came forward to COM offering to match year-end donations. SunRidge you gave $7695.00 towards this project which doubled when the COM donor matched these funds!!!! Well done everyone!!! SunRidge has partnered with Child of Mine since 2012. Many of us have been to these homes and become grea...t friends with the staff and kids there so we're so excited to be able to support this construction project! Check out our weekly updates: With the new restrictions, we are back to being 100% online. Groups are still meeting online and it's so important to keep connected so be sure to watch for those online gatherings. The Family Room, our church-wide zoom call, is coming up Nov. 29! These are great gatherings where we get to hear from several people, pray together, and take communion together. Sign-up at https://www.sunridge.org/events

Couple clips from last Sundays message: "Love People". Restrictions have since changed but our need for community has not. It is good for us to do life with people, and that requires a bit of creativity these days. We're so grateful for the technology tools that allow us to still connect, still pray together, still share devotions together, still laugh together, and still gather together online! : ) View the full message here: https://www.sunridge.org/news/2020/9/11/why-we-gather

Story of the Week: Our Small Group Leaders Isn’t it great to be cared for by loving leaders? At SunRidge, we want to celebrate those who step into the role of leadership. Week after week they organize, pray for, and connect with their Small Groups & Home Churches. It was only a couple Sundays ago that we sat down together over dinner (with proper precautions in place!) and had great conversations about how the past number of months have been. We talked about how to facilitate... groups while meeting the new 6 person limit in living rooms, such a big pivot from where we were. And now here we are again, needing to make a big shift with the new restrictions! It's a difficult (but important) task to lead and care for a community on a good day, but even moreso when there are ever changing social restrictions. While there have been many ups and downs, we have seen the goodness of God as we have had to make a number of adjustments. We ask that you continue to pray for your leaders as they continue to be on the mission of leading people to become passionately committed followers of Jesus, encourage them, and make it a joy for them to lead you! It’s encouraging to see that more people are taking on leadership! If you feel the call to do that, let us know and we’ll help equip you to lead. Our Small Group & Home Church Leaders are: Brad & Tannis Gamble Wayne & Val Zilke Bernie & Sue Schmidtke Matt & Sadie Unrau Mikaela Klassen Steve & Sara Corothers Norm & Cindy MacIntosh Kyle & Alecia Dyck Darwin & Jo-Ann Kuchma Mike & Michelle Brandt Hans & Marion Neumann Mike & Teresa Klassen Shawn & Lisa Klassen

Hi SunRidge This afternoon (November 19th), new Province-wide restrictions came into effect which requires us to pivot once again. We are no longer allowed to gather in person, so we will move to connecting 100% online with our Small Groups and The Family Room. During this time, we are encouraging you to prioritize these connections. Show up, speak kindly, bring hope, lift Jesus, pray for one another. Watch this video update from Pastor Mike: https://vimeo.com/481500050... The work of OOSC (SunRidge Out of School Care) is to pray and to play. The order matters. This year has been super tricky with implementing new and ever-changing COVID safety measures but we’re so glad to be able stay open and to keep providing a safe and fun place for these kids in our community!

Be refilled and encouraged by the Holy Spirit using scripture to speak to you today and everyday! "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." 2 Timothy 3:16 NLT Listen to the full message online at https://www.sunridge.org/messages or click the link in our bio.... For resources on how to read your bible and do daily devotions (reading and journalling on scripture) head to https://www.sunridge.org/bible

A thought from @teresajklassen : "The church: started small and we return to this ancient tradition of gathering in homes and other spaces around the city. But we are one church with all the churches here and everywhere who love Jesus, love people and are doing our best to live out His Kingdom mission. Happy Sunday all "

Story of the Week: On A Walk (with Shawn Klassen) Something we say around SunRidge a fair bit is that we want to walk with you. What we mean is that we want to meet you exactly where you are in life, with whatever thoughts you might have about faith, and go on a trek together with Jesus through life. In a word: discipleship. We believe this happens best in community where we can know each other and be known ourselves. We are listened to, cared for, and pointed to the goodne...ss of God. I have enjoyed doing this with many people, and it looks different with all of them. We try to connect regularly, share in conversation about Jesus, and dig into life together. Two of these guys are Bernie and Ross. We met up today (Wednesday), went for a walk, talked about life, shared what’s been meaningful in our devos lately, and prayed for each other. It’s got a simplicity to it, but it’s also got a richness. It means a lot to be able share life like this, to grow in faith, to develop as a disciple. We’re on a walk together. How about you: are there people you’re walking with?

Story of the Week: Following Jesus Together Terry and Kathy Albrecht were baptized earlier in September. It was a joy to see as we gathered in their backyard and watched as they waded into the warm pool. I was reminded of the togetherness that Jesus wants his followers to experience. When you watch the video, you’ll see their Small Group there cheering them on. Steps of faith should be celebrated and we need each other for that kind of encouragement. Faith is not a solo mission; it’s a walk with Jesus, together with others. It’s beautifully on display here. To watch their story head to www.sunridge.org/stories

May God bless you and keep you, smile on you and be gracious to you! May the Lord show you his favour and grant to you his peace

There are things we don’t ever want to lose as a church family, elements that are extremely important to us. We will always want to dive into scripture, lift our voices in worship, engage in meaningful conversation with each other, and join our hearts in prayer. Lately, our Small Groups have begun exploring how these elements can look in our backyards and living rooms. Our messages are online every week. Why not connect with your Small Group and watch it together? Is there a musician or two among you? Someone can bring a song or just play one from a music library to meditate on. Are there things in your life you’d like prayer for? Share them with your friends. Let's do life together and grow together in our faith : )

Gatherings must be small these days but we are so blessed to still be able to do life together in Small Groups! The church, God's beautiful gathering, big or small, is about doing life together and worshipping our good God in whatever ways you can! "All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had." Acts 2:42-44

Prayer is a first priority not a last resort. What are you fearful of today? Ask God for help. What are you thankful for today? Thank God!... Would you like prayer for something? We pray as a church together, share our prayer requests, and celebrate when they’re answered together! DM us to be added to the prayer letter or submit a prayer request.

People gather for many different reasons: family, reunions, sporting events, concerts. But why do Christians gather? And what is it that we are to do when we gather? Covid has changed the way that the church gathers; this is for sure. So we want to explore together in a new series ‘WHY WE GATHER’.
