For the months of February and March the Sabre football team will be competing in a program called the Spring Sabre Challenge. The team has been divided into fo...ur groups, each led by a captain. The teams will compete to earn points for working out, getting good grades, and preforming random acts of kindness. Each member of the winning group will receive a $10 Subway gift card each week. We will be posting the winning teams and videos of their workouts or accounts of their random acts of kindness every Sunday night. Although it is not Sunday, we have already had a random act of kindness reported: Offensive Tackle, and team captain, John Lepp, carried bags of water softener salt from the grocery store to the car for a member of the Oakbank community. That act put John and his team in the lead for this week. Tune in Sunday night to see if Team Lepp was able to hold onto this lead or if Team Walls, Team White or Team Richey, won the first week. Enjoy this picture of John. We said he is a great kid, we never said he dresses properly. #Brickbybrick #63Daysandcounting See more

Our final Sabre in 31 Sabres in 31 Days is Class of 2022, Tight End, and Long Snapper, Adrian Zablotski. AZ enjoyed his first year of football last season and i...t did not take long to see he was a natural for the sport. AZ is tall, athletic, and very smart. However, what makes him special is his discipline. AZ follows instructions intensely and you never wonder if he truly understands his assignment. When AZ says "Yes Coach" it is because he is ready to execute his assignment. Enjoy this clip of AZ making a nice catch in our second game and of when we discovered he had a natural talent for long snapping. Also, I love this picture, because it captures the joy of football that I wish every child could experience. #Brickbybrick #66Daysandcounting See more

As long as we're breaking the rules by having a 32nd player in 31 Sabres in 31 Days, we might as well let him wear a goofy hat during team phots. This is Class ...of 2023 linebacker Alex Witoski. Alex enjoyed his first year of football in 2019 playing for the Sunrise Coyotes Bantam team. It did not take long before we noticed how well Alex took to the physical nature of football. He is big, athletic and coachable. However, what makes Alex special is his natural affinity for the game. You would never know he is a new player based on his ability to lower his pad level. His hits remind us of Player #25 Johnny Toledo. Unsurprisingly, Alex loves the physical part of football. Enjoy this clipof Alex not giving up on the play and making a hit that had all of us saying "Ohhhhhhh."#brickbybrick #67daysandcounting See more

Day 5 of 31 Sabres in 31 Days, brings us Class of 2021 Linebacker, Ross Dick. Hailing from Tyndal, Ross has played in the Coyote/Sabre program for five years. H...e is a remarkably good football player who has been a joy to work with. What makes Ross special is his speed and clarity of purpose. When you teach Ross an assignment, you can rest assured that he will never be out of place. Ross loves football because of its family atmosphere. " On the roughest days of my life, I can still go to football and it will change my day around." Enjoy these clips of Ross going "bounce, bounce" and chasing down a very fast running back from the other side of the field. #Brickbybrick #90daysandcounting See more

Our fourth Sabre in 31 Sabres in 31 Days is Mattix Carpenter. Mattix is a 2022 Wingback from Oakbank. Mattix was sorely missed in our inaugural season as he was... rehabbing an injury. A tremendously gifted athlete who does not get intimidated easily, Mattix is special because of his ability to see the whole field when he has the ball. Mattix loves football because of the discipline it requires and the strong relationships you develop with your teammates. Enjoy this clip from the 2018 Championship where Mattix finds the seam on the Criss-cross. #Brikbybrick #91daysandcounting See more

Today's featured Sabre in 31 Sabres in 31 Days, is Meadow Bjorklund. Meadow hails from Hadashville and is a Class of 2021 Open Guard. Although small in stature..., Meadow's presence on the football field is enormous. What makes her special is the unique combination of intellect and fearlessness. Meadow loves football because the intensity and the atmosphere. "The guys have accepted me as one of their own, and have never been treated differently." Enjoy this clip of Meadow "running the circle." Coaches notice how she keeps her shoulders square while pulling. Sometimes being the smallest player on the field can be an advantage. #Brickbybrick #92daysandcounting See more

31 Sabres in 31 Days continues with Class of 2023, defensive lineman, Thomas Barrett. Thomas comes to us from Tyndal and played last year with the Sunrise Coyot...es. He is 5'10 and a strong 195 pounds. We are anticipating that Thomas can make an immediate impact on our defensive line. What is special about Thomas is his instinctive play. Although new to high school football, he possesses the mental reflexes of being able to read and react, rather than just charging blindly. We are excited about him joining the Sabre squad. Thomas loves football because of the spirit and energy of the team. Enjoy this clip of him setting the edge and then scooping to the inside to make the tackle. #Brickbybrick #92daysandcounting See more

Our second Sabre in, 31 Days 31 Sabres, is Aidan Avanthay. Hailing form Lac du Bonnet, this Class of 2021 student is a unique football player. At 5'10, 170 poun...ds, he is able to man several positions. He can set the edge as a defensive end, make one handed catches as a receiver, and even kick 40 yard field goals. What makes Aidan so special is his versatility. He is such a good athlete that we could put him anywhere on the field and he would stand out. We could even put him on the offensive line and not worry about his blocking. Aidan loves football because of all of the people you get meet and the cool stadiums you get to play in. Enjoy this clip of Aidan tackling the QB, forcing and then recovering the fumble. #Brickbybrick #93daysandcounting See more

31 Sabres in 31 Days begins with Class of 2022, Open Tackle, Ben Armstrong. Ben is 6'3 and 195 pounds. He was an important part of a Sabre offence that ran for ...over 2000 yards in their inaugural season. What makes Ben special is the energy and enthusiasm he brings to practice every day. There is never a dull moment with Ben Armstrong on your team. Ben loves football because of its intensity and competition. Enjoy this clip of Ben's down block on the Criss-Cross. See more

For the month of January we will be featuring the players from the SCI Football program in a promotion called 31 Sabres in 31 Days. The promotion will feature ...coach's observations about what makes the player special, pictures/videos, and player's comments about why they love football. We have an exceptional group of kids on this team and just because the season is on hold, doesn't mean we are not still building. #Brickbybrick #95daysandcounting See more
