Sunshine Roofing has done so many repairs to this roof and roof drainage system including the Bell Tower over the years, it will be real nice to finally see the much needed major repairs completed. The last repair we did to the Bell Tower was a roof drainage repair where our fearless Dave hooked his safety line into the Bell Apparatus, climbed up on the tower roof and cleaned out the hidden gutter system while the main drain was being snaked out from below. It worked and the ...river of water came gushing out at street level. A broken window was boarded up after the resident pigeons were evicted and once again, the roof water draining into the Firehouse Grill was stopped. The previous owner wasn't able to take on the very expensive project of replacing the roof nor fixing the badly deteriorated brick parapet walls and battlements so we continued to make repairs as needed. I'm sure a lot of people, myself including, will miss the bell tower if they get the go-ahead to remove it. We are, however happy to see the new owners taking on this project to help preserve Nanaimo's Fire Station # 2. See more
