They aim to have viewers feel immersed in nature, struck, non-existing, in complete awe, and at peace. His contemporary approach to colour and composition, combined with decades of painting experience, entices the viewer in through a connection with nature. Skim speaks and integrates prerecorded audio piece into the performance questioning what Haan is. In the audio piece Kim references the book Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women's Anger by So...raya Chemaly. Kim uses both knowledge in Western culture and Korean culture to understand anger and Haan. Flux is a performance art piece where Romi Kim performs in their drag character Skim. Exhibition: Performing Flux: Romi Kim, Marilyn Marshall, Jan Legault and Craig Cochrane now OPEN! at the Doris Crowston Gallery in Sechelt June 12 - July 12, 2020 (new dates!)... Gallery Hours: Wed-Sun, 12-4pm Events: Saturdays with Jan Legault Closing Performances: Sunday July 12th, 2-4pm We are delighted to bring together a exhibition in celebration of Sunshine Coast Pride 2020. Working with Curator Anna Nobile, this is our 5th year showcasing the work of LGBTQ2+ artists. The works assembled are provocative and timely and include photography, video, painting and installations that consider the fluidities of gender, identity, and sexuality. As we move through the world we are constantly reacting and adapting to the persistent stream of information and stimuli flowing around us. Times change, perceptions shift. Things are in motion, creating uncertainty but also infinite possibilities, transformations and re-inventions. In a society where the definitions of male and female are fluctuating, how does that affect how we interact with the world and the diversity of people in it? Is who we were yesterday, individually and collectively, still hold true for who we are today? And how do representations of bodies (ours and others) become a medium for expressing this. June 3, 2020 Hackett Park 2020 Cancellation It is with deep sadness that the Sunshine Coast Arts Council announces the cancellation of the 33rd Annual Hackett Park Arts and Craft Fair for August 15 and 16, 2020. With the uncertainty of the progression of COVID-19, and the fact that our wonderful event draws so many people to it, this difficult decision was made with the health and safety of our community in mind, as this is our top priority. ... We sincerely appreciate the patience that has been shown to us while we have been gathering information and considering the consequences before arriving at this difficult decision. We are grateful to the long-term support of our vendors, audiences, volunteers, public sector funders, sponsors and donors that have made the event an extraordinary success over the last 33 years. In particular we want to thank the Sunshine Coast community for their ongoing support for artists and artisans in our midst. We are looking to the future and hope to be able to invite our community back to the 2021 edition. We will be in touch in the Fall with an update. In the meantime, we hope our community remains safe and healthy and connected during these challenging times. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] or for more information at www.sunshinecoastartscouncil.com/hackett-park-2020 Contact: Sadira Rodrigues, Director/Curator [email protected]
