In accordance to the measures being taken by health authorities across the country to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the Canadian Red Cross strongly recommends all Training Partners to cease in-person training until further notice. Canadian Red Cross is aware that in person course cancellations due to COVID-19 precautionary measures and closures and will have an impact on those requiring to maintain their certifications. Red Cross has worked with workplace health and safe...ty regulators to offer support to those who have certifications that will expire in the next months. All Red Cross first aid certifications (which would have expired March through June 30, 2020) will be considered valid 90-days beyond their expiry date. These certifications will also be accepted for those taking recertification courses when in-person training resumes. Options to Support Training The Canadian Red Cross offers a number of online course options, which can be used to encourage training during this time while supporting the practice of social distancing. Participants looking to complete a first aid recertification or take a blended course in the future can be encouraged to take the time now to complete the online component. To support this option, we will be offering the online component of our Standard, Emergency, and CPR First Aid courses (normally offered as part of our blended delivery programs) as separate standalone courses. The online component will issue a confirmation of completion certificate which is good for 90 days. The completion of this online training will also appear in users’ profiles as a type of course which can be verified by their employer. Participants will be required to complete the in-person training within 90 days of completing the online component, after which they will be issued a 3-year certification. With many individuals postponing in-person training, this will provide a solution to continue supporting education in the short term. These participants will also be confirmed as your customers when in-person training resumes. See more
