Update for All Residents and Families: As we are all aware, the provincial government announced back in December that they will begin to distribute COVID-19 vaccines as soon as they are received, beginning with vulnerable populations and those who care for them. Ontario will be prioritizing the rollout of the vaccine in regions with the highest rates of COVID-19 infection, including those in Red (Control) and Grey (Lockdown) zones. As of January 21, 2021, there has been over ...Continue reading

In a statement released December 21st, 2020 by our Ontario Premier Doug Ford, effective as of December 26th, 2020 all areas of Ontario will be entering into the GREY phase which is a LOCKDOWN. With that being said, Supples Landing will remain CLOSED to General Visitors and will be reassessed in the New year. Residents with two Designated Essential Caregivers will be the only persons allowed to enter our facility at this time. Due to the GREY LOCKDOWN phase, Essential Caregiv...ers are only allowed to be present in the facility one at a time, unless the two Essential Caregivers reside in the same household. With the tightening of restrictions, we will be encouraging families to drop offs of parcels/packages/groceries from the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Essential Caregivers are also encouraged to enter the facility during the following times 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM as we are trying to do our part with keeping our residents safe. Residents will be allowed to leave the building to attend essential medical appointments. Any other absences or over night stays are not permitted and will result in the resident needing to self isolate under droplet precautions for 14 days in their suite. At this time the staff at Supples Landing want to remind all our residents, friends, and families the importance of not coming to visit their loved ones if they are feeling sick or unwell. Even if you have been tested and are confirmed negative of Covid 19, there are still many other respiratory infections that can put a lot of strain on the health of seniors and compromised individuals. Please remember the importance of wearing your mask in common areas, as well in residents’ suites while visiting. Good hand hygiene is also especially important. Residents wearing cloth masks should remember to launder their mask often and change disposable masks. Important Reminders: Family/friends should be reminded not to prepare or send packages if they are ill with any signs/symptoms of COVID-19. Make sure residents and families clean their hands prior to preparing or receiving gifts. Also, remember all packages coming into our home will be sanitized prior to be delivered to the resident’s rooms. We ask that if you are sending in baked goods that they are not shared with others. Heidi Savoie, Director of Care

During the month of October out residents decorated our Tree of Gratitude by purchasing a leaf for a loonie and then writing on it things they are thankful for. All proceeds went to our local Robbie Dean Center for mental health initiatives.

In the event we are in an active outbreak and your loved ones are on isolation in their rooms, as essential caregivers you are required to wear the following personal protective equipment for your visit which can be purchased at most local pharmacies and is not provided by Supples Landing: -procedural/surgical mask, gloves, isolation gown, googles or a face shield Please ensure while visiting in your loved one’s rooms, that they as well are always wearing a face covering as per Directive 3. Limit high touch areas in the resident’s room (light switches, appliances, remote, counter tops, dishware, towels). Leave essential packages for delivery by staff at the screening station. Short Stay Absences Effective July 17th, 2020, Ontario has moved into another phase with Covid-19 allowing many changes for our residents and their families. As Covid-19 is still prevalent, we continue to strongly discourage residents from leaving the retirement home for their health and safety. However, if a resident decides to leave for a short absence with friends/family, shoppi...Continue reading
