The Ottawa Police Service said it has received four tips this week where victims will get a call from someone claiming to be a lawyer or a police officer saying a grandchild is in trouble, and in order to help, the grandparents would need to provide money.

What a great idea! Be My Eyes is an app for iOS and Android that connects blind and low-vision people with a global network of sighted volunteers and company representatives. Whenever a blind or low-vision user needs sighted assistance they can connect with a friendly volunteer through the app, for help with anything from reading labels on food products to distinguishing colours or navigating unfamiliar surroundings.
