Yesterday on National Housing Day, the Liberal government released details of its 10-year National Housing Strategy. President of FCM (The Federation of CanadianMunicipalities), Jenny Gerbasi said, This is the kind of federal leadership that local governments have been seeking for more than 20 years.

This is a great review of the progress made by the Liberal Government over the past five years. We can count on that progress continuing because this is the government that is committed to the well-being and prosperity of all Canadians.

Election day 2019! One year ago today! Although I didn’t become MP, I had much to celebrate and be grateful for and I have great memories.The support I received was overwhelming and the dedication of everyone who worked with me was inspiring. I learned a lot and I’m ready to step into the ring again, and with your help, next time together we will celebrate a victory!

Last year a remarkable group of family, friends, and volunteers who became friends, worked hard for two months to support me in my bid to become MP for AORRH. This team accomplished so much in a short time and I would like to thank them - to thank everyone of you - for what you did in the lead up to the election. Together we are strong and together, in the next election, we will win!

Congratulations and thanks to all the members of the Anti-Black Racism and Anti-Racism task force. Change is needed and the initiative on the part of the Town of Aurora is to be commended.

After a week of packing and unpacking, we are (mostly) settled into our new home in Aurora. I’m grateful for the Oak Ridges Trail where I could go for a long walk with the dogs and enjoy some renewing peace. Nature is a wonderful tonic.

Today Is Health Care Aide Day in some Canadian provinces. But I think it’s very important that we take a moment to remember the healthcare aides working in various settings in Ontario, including long-term care. They face many challenges in their work and Covid has added to their responsibilities and burden. Thank you health care aides for all you do to care for our vulnerable citizens, providing physical and emotional support. You are appreciated and you are still front line heroes!

Going for a walk or hike at this time of year, when the fall colours are at their peak is one of my favourite things to do. And, as as were being swept along in the second wave, it’s also a safe activity since it’s outside and if I’m with someone we use masks or keep our distance.
